Your wireless network must be secured
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

The signal from my router to my Samsung blu ray is not strong enough

There are several things you need to consider with wireless connection:
Distance - How far is the Netgear router from the Samsung Blu ray? Try changing the wireless channel on the Netgear router that can help boost the signal. Wireless Security- Have you enabled wireless security on the router? Is it WEP or WPA? Make sure that you input the wireless security key on the Blu Ray player and that you have setup wireless settings correctly.Number of wireless devices - Check the number of wireless devices(laptops, desktops, pda's, etc) connecting to the router as it also weakens the signal. And if wireless security is not enabled on your Netgear router, there's a chance that your neighbor might be connecting to your router via wireless.
You can also test how strong the signal is by placing a wireless laptop on the same location where the blu ray player is. If the laptop gets a weak signal as well, you can try placing the router closer to the blu ray player.

I can't reconnect my router after we tried to move.

Many times the settings need to be refreshed and re set up. Press and hold the reset button the the router, and then log into the net gear's admin dashboard by plugging the computer into a numbered port on the back of the router, browsing to 192.168.0.1 and logging in using:

username admin
password: password

From there you can set up security settings. It's best to make sure you can get online wirelessly with no security settings first, and then add in security settings. If you mess up and, just log back in to the dashboard, or reset it and try again.

I have used the netgear wgr614 wireless router in unsecured mode to run two laptops for a couple of years now.... yes, I know that is stupid....now! So after a security breach, I realize I need to secure...

  1. Install the router. To install a Netgear wireless router, use an Ethernet cable to connect the router to the cable/DSL modem and use another Ethernet cable to connect the router to your computer. Make sure all of these devices are powered off as you connect them. Once connected, turn on the cable/DSL modem, the router, then the computer, in that order. Allow at least two minutes to pass after turning on each device to give the devices time to recognize one another.

  2. Log in to the router. Open a web browser and type in the router's address to load the router's settings page. The router's address can be found in the user guide or setup CD that came with your router, or you can download a user guide from Netgear's technical support page (see Resources). Most Netgear routers use one of the following addresses: http://192.168.1.1; http://www.routerlogin.net; or http://www.routerlogin.com. Press "Enter" or click "Go" in your web browser after you have entered the address.

  3. Enter the router's username and password. A prompt will appear on the screen when you enter your router's address, requiring you to enter a username and password before you can access the router's settings page. The default username for Netgear routers is "username" and the password is "password." Because the textboxes are case-sensitive, you must enter both of these using all lowercase letters. Press "Enter" to log in to the router and begin changing its security settings.

  4. Open the security settings menu. The router's home page has multiple links for changing settings. Find and click the "Security Settings" link to change the router's security settings.

  5. Change the SSID, choose an encryption setting and create a password. The default name (or "SSID") of your wireless network will be "NETGEAR." Enter a new, memorable name for your wireless network to help detract would-be hackers from trying to access your router, as most novice computer users with unsecure networks do not know how to change the default network name or institute any other security features. Newer Netgear routers offer WPA or WPA-PSK encryption to secure your network, both of which provide high levels of security. Select either of these. encryption types and create a unique password. This will require all users to enter the password before they can log in to your wireless network. It is important that you create a complex password that has several characters, including numbers. Once you have created a password, click "Confirm Password" to save it. To exit the security settings menu and log off of the router, click "Save" or "Apply" to save the changes you made, then click "Logout" to exit the router.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

NETGEAR WGR614v7 Network Security key

Hi, you need to connect to the routers admin pages to configure the wireless settings and security. Check out this page:-
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101676.asp

When you get to step 6, click the WPA-PSK security setting and it will give you a box to type in a password of your choice, make it memorable but difficult to guess, so a mixture of numbers and letters. I think its a min of 8 characters.
Hope this helps..
