I do not know the password to access my phone. I have gone through all the steps to reset the pw using feature 983 - admin - change - change pw. It is suppose to default back to 0000 but this does not occur. I am using a Nortel Networks 16 line phone. Thanks

Try using FEATURE **2223772 2223772#. This is the access server admin. There might be a path there to reset passwords. On the MICS side use FEATURE **266344 266344# to access the system programming and password reset features. feature 983 then try 1029999 (if password was changed to 9999 or something else)
or maybe feature 983 then 738662 'ok' then 266344 'ok'. depending on the norstar system you have.
these are some codes to enter the vm management. What are you trying to do, reset a vm password or other system programming?
If it's for someone else's extension, you go into Admin (Feature 983) and hit Mailbox, Chng, type in the mailbox number and hit reset. This will reset it to 0000. If you've forgotten the admin password, I found a great online cheat sheet on how to change it, let me know if you need it.

assumming your extension is 3 digits;
enter Feature 983 and at the log prompt enter 1020000 then press ok. This is 102 for the mb and 0000 for the password. If you get successfully logged in you can choose mbox then change and then enter your mb # . The first thing you will see is PASSWORD with RESET under password. Press the softkey under reset to rest the password to 0000. Now try to log back into your mb using 0000 as the password.
If you can't get into the admin mb with 1020000 then do this to reset the password for the admin mb..
