John deere stx 38 5 speed need help in putting it back together
Hello I need a diagram of how to put the blade belt on the mower deck of a john deere stx38 mower. My lawn person took apart my lawn mower at the end of ;ast season and doesn't remember how to put it back together. mainly how the belt is put back on. thank you. [email protected]

hello the mower deck is off mower when we started. The guy who took it off is gone. New guy thinks he has the 2 rear draft arms on correctly also the 2 front draft rodes are on correctly. Now the information that you sent me is not the same deck no drive cables etc. etc. We have one 8 inch by one inch tight spring left over where does it go? Also how do we tighten the belt? adjustable pulley is loose but bulted tightly. What we need to know is 1. how do we tighten the belt 2. we know deck should not be sitting on ground what do we do? Keep in mind we have no mower engagememnt drive cable or spring locking pin. Basically top of deck has 4 pulleys that feed to drive pulley on mower. We can't engage blades because belt is way to loose, plus can't move mower because deck is sitting on the ground. With deck in the up or down position. Basically we're at at loss. Jun 03, 2010 - again this is for the John Deere STX 38 1988 model with Kohler 12.5 command system. John Deere thinks the ignition module is bad so we replaced it, but can't test it until we run the mower.Jun 03, 2010 - It has a easy mower lift electric engage???? Seems Deere didn't put diagrams on their 100 series mowers, just to save a buck I guess? Sure are a lot of complaints online over it for this to just be a mistake? Not on the deck like most mowers are, not under hood nor under its seat. Simply not on this damn mower.. I got the belt on ok because I've worked on mowers many yrs but some folks may really struggle to do so, what a joke JD is today.
Also see if you can locate the mower deck model number i.e STX 38, STX 42 (Deck color Black or Yellow?) Should be a silver decal with black lettering. Also... there is supposed to be a belt routing diagram on the mower deck. (Another silver decal with the belt routing picture)
