I also have a frost build up on the top back for about 2 feet. Never all the way across the back, just a hunk about 3" by 24 ". Thought that may be a symptom?

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Is the compressor continually running? If so then there could be a leak in the system or the compressor is damaged. If it's running then stopping, the cold control (thermostat) could be damaged.

Try turning the thermostat down to O and then back to max a few times this may free a stuck bimetallic strip. If this doesn't work and assuming you haven't damaged any components in some way then all that may be required is a new thermostat.
It's probable that you've lost refrigerant in the cooling system. Unfortunately, leaks in those systems can be hard to find so check your warranty to see if the labor is still covered.
It could be the thermostat. When you catch it in a cycle where it's warming up, gently tap the dial with the handle of a screw driver. If it starts chances are it's bad. If you know electricty you can jump the two terminals on the thermostat to do this test.
Make sure everything is working, I.E. compressor, fans. Now I need to know if the freezer shuts off at 14 degrees, or does it continue to run without making temp. If it shuts off, then the first place to look is the thermostat. It may be out of calibration. If it continues to run, then the solution may be as simple as cleaning the condenser coil. or the defrost has malfunctioned somehow. Defrost probleams will cause excess ice on the inside coil. You may need to remove the panels to see how much ice is on it. It sounds like the compressor is good, as it is pretty cold. Just not cold enough. A deep freeze should be at least 0.

I also get a chunk of frost about 3" by 24" across the top left back wall right up under the gasket. Maybe that is a symptom?
Thanks
Brian
