Analog stick might be bad and may need replaced. If you don't feel comfortable tearing it apart, you may want to look into a new / used one.

Try to disassemble the pad. Reseat the analog stick and re-assemble the pad.

There could multiple things wrong, and hopefully nothing serious. Here is a complete list of some problems and solutions that can be wrong with the analog stick.

1. The Left analog stick may be sticky. If you eat greasy foods while playing your Xbox 360 console, try to avoid this from now on. Grease from food particles may slip into the analog stick, and make it sticky, causing the analog to move constantly to one fixed position. 2. There may be a simple glitch in configuration. Try turning off your Xbox 360 controller by holding the Xbox Guide button for approx 4 seconds untill a menu comes up. Select "Turn off controller". After doing so, try turning on your controller again. If the problem persists, there may be a greasy analog stick, or an object that broke that holds the analog stick together. Go back to problem/soltution #1.

You have to go through the game settings and ensure that you have set the primary control to be done by the left analog stick. In other words, make sure that you have the left-analog stick as the tool to move your player around while playing the game.
Also, if that doesn't work, there is a possibility that your left-analog stick is somehow jammed and as a result doewsn't perform the right function.
This could be a factory fault or one that arose as a case of mis-management. Whatever your result is, kindly let me know.

On this kind of error, I recommend that you bring your psp to a service center to further check that contol analog stick.

you really cannot use your analog stick if you're at the menu. its really like that. i've had my PSP for years and i believe that there's no mod or configuration to do that. Sorry mate.

i might be able to help... go on to setting go to controller setting and you will have multiple different ways your controller will work look at the one it is at before you change it then try different controller setting if that diddent work write back ;)

Check the controls on the game's control section. If you play another game that uses the right analog control and it works on that game then it's the control set up for FIFA. Make sure that the analog control light is on when the game boots up. Sometimes if the analog control light is not on when you turn the game on and you turn it on afterwards, the analog stick controls don't work properly. That happened to me on NFS Pro Street. most probably the controller's carbon button inside the controller is already worn out and is sticking on the controller's printed circuit board (PCB) there are some replacement carbon button that can be bought for a cheap price

or

if you are using an analog controller, check if the analog stick is loose in feeling, this might affect the controls as well because good working analog sticks are a little stiff when pushed
