When I turn on the system the power light on the sub woofer comes on then goes off. I have checked the connections and all plugs are in. one time the light stayed on but the bass did not play. All other speakers work when I click on the different surround sound options. what do you think?

SOURCE: SubWoofer

Sounds like your original and this sub have bad amps. The amp for the sub is not the same as the amp for the other speakers. The old unit has a dead amp and this new one is on the way out. (Pulling too much current on high bass)

SOURCE: WOOFER NOT WORKING JVC th-m606

I'm having the same problem. It seems that the mosfet's shorted blew up a capacitor and took some surface mount parts with it. It will be the middle board with the metal shroud (shield). The mosfets are almost impossible to find, I have replaced them (as well as other parts) but still have yet to find the problem. I'm now trying to find the subwoofer amp board (part#LVA10505).

SOURCE: Setting Up Surround Sound with satellite tv digital tuner

What model do you have?

You should be able to plug the audio/video output from the satellite TV system into the audio/video input on the JVC system. Then set the JVC system to the appropriate input.

I need to know the exact model to know how or if this is even possible. Some JVC models don't let you input any additional devices. Others might not have the inputs that are necessary for surround.

Connect Philips sw3440/37 powered sub, with no other components. I bought this powered sub at goodwill... How do I hook it up without the other components (dvd player etc.)

Unfortunately, I don't think you can connect this sub-woofer without the rest of the components of the HTS3440/37 DVD Home Theater System or a related Philips home theater system. The speakers in the system are hard-wired with a colored plug that you connect to the sub-woofer. Then you need connect the inter-connect cable between the sub-woofer to the DVD Player of the system. See the wiring guide in the Quick Start Manual or the User Guide available on the product support page: https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/HTS3440_37/divx-ultra/support .

Sub-woofers that aren't part of a home theater system connect to a receiver with a digital audio RCA cable. One example is here: https://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-ULTRA-Subwoofer-Cable-Feet/dp/B003FVYXY0 . Then the speakers also connect to the receiver.

Even if you find another Philips Home Theater system that is missing the sub-woofer, I wouldn't rule out a change in the pin arrangement for the inter-connect cable that would cause the system to fail. I can't find any sources for a replacement inter-connect cable; the part number isn't in the manual that I can find.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a panasonic sa-ht 700 but it did not come with a power cord. it does not have a 120 plug in like normal

The SA-HT700 is the main unit for the SC-HT700 DVD Home Theater system. For this system, the sub-woofer (SA-WA340) has the AC power connection. The sub-woofer is connected to the main unit by a "System cable". The power cord and system cable are shown in the manual. You'll need the sub-woofer if you don't have one. Amazon has a used sub-woofer listed here: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-SB-WA340-Powered-Subwoofer-SA-HT700/dp/B076HB8HQP . However, I don't know the third-party vendor.

A replacement power cable for some regions is available at Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Polarized-Panasonic-SA-HT700-SA-HT80-SCHT1500/dp/B00VFHP9US . I found the system cable here: https://www.amazon.com/Matsushita-Panasonic-K1HA25HA0001-CABLE-65/dp/B001DPHPCC . See the manual for the correct part numbers: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/hometheater/om/sc-ht900_en_om.pdf . The accessories that come in the box are shown on page 3.

I hope this helps.

Sub woofer not turning on

Is it receiving power? If not that is your answer - could be a blown fuse, bad wire, bad connection, etc.

If power is there and it still does not work then the problem coud be with a bad sub woofer on/off switch, internal fuse, or worse, blown amp from over driving.

My subwoofer doesn't receive power, all amp fuses are fine, amp powers on, remote wire and rca wires are connected and intact. Before it stopped working all together the woofer would cut out and after...

If you are getting power to the amp, try this....Find a small speaker, unhook your sub and wire speaker to amp. Turn on your system at a low volume....If the other speaker is playing through amp, then your sub is shot.....If the small speaker doesnt work, then its either your channel is gone on the amp or the rcas have quit off off your head unit.

No Sound

This might very well be a fuse - check by setting the sub woofer to "On" to see if it powers up. If it does, there may be a problem with the sub woofer audio cable(s) or connection(s).

Don't forget to check for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse on the stereo's speaker output. If your sub is connected to a low level output - this shouldn't be a possible cause - as circuit breakers & fuses are usually on amplified (high level) or speaker outputs.

Another possibility is that the settings of the stereo has been changed from a *.1 system to plain stereo 2.0 or some other setting that disables the LFE (low frequency effects) or sub woofer audio output.
