SOURCE: Maytag Washer Noise While Spinning

Most washer models have snap-clips holding the front of the top panel down, with hinge-like clips at the back. Carefully pry up the top panel on the front of the machine using a tool that won't scratch the finish, such as a plastic or wooden wedge. If it does not pop loose fairly easily, then carefully examine the back of the machine to see if this is a rare model that has screws holding down the top panel. (But really, it _should_ just pop loose.) Once the top panel is tilted up to expose the inside, you should be able to see everything you need to see inside the body to evaluate a spinning drum problem.

SOURCE: I have a Maytag Legacy gas dryer that won't heat

OK, Crispy... the con census is that the coils have failed. The coil kit you'll need is part number 279834 and can be either purchased on line or at your local appliance parts retailer.

{{{UNPLUG THE DRYER BEFORE PROCEEDING!}}}

The repair is easy, remove the lower service access panel by removing the two screws located on either side at the very bottom. Then rotate the panel toward you and pull it out.

At the bottom right, you'll see the gas valve. There are 2 round, black coils mounted to it. One of these has 3 wires going to it and the other has 2 wires. You'll also see that they are held down by a brass colored bracket. Remove the wires from the coils and then remove the brass colored bracket with a stubby (short) Phillips screwdriver. NOTE THE POSITION OF THE COILS AND NOTE WHERE THE WIRES GO!

Install the new coils and bracket them down. Install the wires to the coils. Now rebuild the unit.

Easy breezy. Even if you've never done this, you're looking at MAYBE an hour... maybe.

Hope this helps,
SG

I have a Maytag Legacy SAV515 series top loader. Will fill with water, but will continue to agitate thru to end of wash without a spin, fill, rinse and final spin.

This machine has a 'Fill and Agitate' mode (no spin). So many programs on it! You may have a faulty timer, but due to the cost of those items, I suggest you get professional diagnostic advice. Try a power disconnect overnight. Spin the control dial one revolution and then reconnect power.

Maytag legacy series washer

The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

Drum bangs when spinning

How old is it? The dryer drum has plastic or teflon bushings that serve as bearings to keep the drum in place. After time they wear down, and the drum will wobble as it spins banging againt the cabinet. If you have the drum out to replace them, also a good time to replace the drive belt and the heating element if it's more than a few years old.

My Maytag Legacy SAV515DEWW does not drain and spills over..

Well, turn the water off, install the old brakes (or wait for the new), and run the unit through a cycle (without clothes) to pump all the water out.

With the new brakes installed, and the drum empty of water, turn the water back on, run the unit through a cycle to confirm all works properly. If not, make the additional needed repairs before proceeding. If it works fine, then your good to go and start washing clothes again.
