likely to b problem with driver..
often follows with software corruption/os failure/faulty ram/main board..
i guess u r using a licensed n updated antivirus..
download, install n run microsoft kb890830
check with the following step(s)..
1) try download n install the audio driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=830&DwnldID=5500&lang=eng
2) remove unnecessary items from boot..download n install 'Startup Control Panel'..in here uncheck unimportant startup items..
OR 3) replace the RAM with a standby..
OR 4) reinstall os..
OR 5) disable audio device from the CMOS/BIOS..install a fresh PCI Audio Card n see..
