Icemaker has become extremely slow in making ice and will not keep up. It is making ice but seems to be sporadic.
Any suggestions???
IF THE ICE MAKER AND DISPENSER ARE BOTH OFF, THE WATER VALVE IS THE PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD ONLY BE WATER RUNNING WHEN THE ICE MAKER CALLS FOR IT, AND THAT SHOULD ONLY BE ABOUT 7 SECONDS WORTH,
(4 OUNCES).
THE ONLY THING THAT PUZZLES ME ABOUT YOUR DESCRIPTION IS THAT YOU SAY ICE FREEZES OVER THE COMPRESSOR. THE COMPRESSOR IS THE HOT ROUND OBJECT LOCATED UNDER THE REFRIGERATOR OUTSIDE THE COOLING COMPARTMNTS. FREEZING ONLY TAKES PLACE IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT. ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE EVAPORATOR COILS? IF THERE IS WATER THERE, THE ICE MAKER COULD BE STUCK IN THE FILL MODE AND THE BACK OF THE ICE MAKER FROZEN SO THE WATER CAN'T REACH THE MOLD OF THE ICE MAKER.
CHECK THE FRONT OF THE ICE MAKER BEHIND THE COVER FOR A BROKEN GEAR. IF IT HAS WRITING ON IT THAT SAYS DO NOT ROTATE MANUALLY, YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MODULE ON THE FRONT OF THE ICE MAKER.
IF THE WATER IS COMING FROM BEHIND THE ICE MAKER, BE SURE THE CUP ATTACHED TO THE ICE MAKER IS NOT FROZEN UP. THERE IS A SMALL HOLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CUP THAT ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE ICE MAKER MOLD. ALSO, CHECK THE FILL TUBE THAT RESTS
IN THE CUP. THE NEW SYSTEMS HAVE HALF A TUBE OR
TROUGH FOR THE WATER TO RUN DOWN. BE SURE THE WATER ISN'T SPLASHING OVER THE EDGE OF THE TROUGH. IF IT IS, TRY SLIDING A PLASTIC TUBE OVER TOP OF THE OPEN TROUGH.

Thanks, I'll check that. To be clear the when the supply line from the basement is on, suppling water to the fridge to operate the ice maker and water dispenser water is leaking from what appears to be the top behind the rear inner wall and accumulating onto the COILS and ultimately shutting down the fan and then the fridge.
When I turned the supply line off in the basement and no water is in the fridge system the unit runs fine.
I will check the ice maker as you described and if you can add to the solution I would appreciate it.
Thanks
