Hi there!
The error code you have there means that the Drive Self Test failed. You can try to power down computer, disconnect and reconnect hard drive from the system board. Run the diagnostics , if no error occurs then it's a cable/connector issue, if it failed with the same error, replace you hard drive,
Hope this helps!

If you did not change the CPU the the BIOS is not seeing it correctly. You can update the BIOS or you should be able to press F1 to continue to boot.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and when I turn it on it tells me NO BOOTABLE DEVICE DETECTED This happen one other time and I rebooted my computer and it came back on but it did not work this time what can I...

NO BOOTABLE DEVICE When the PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either the hard disk or floppy drive it gives an error message "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key"
There may be a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect this hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.

To get the computer operating again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on this hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.

your HDD may be corrupted, re-installing windows vista is one option. Your best bet is if you have/ can obtain a copy of windows vista run setup and try the repair wizard in the windows vista setup, the wizard automatically finds errors and missing files and replaces them therefore solving any errors in your HDD. you can also try to use the recovery wizard from your recovery disc. best of luck

Error Code 0146 refers to failure to find or load NTLDR files, needed to run your operating system. Place your Restore disk in the DVD drive, power up the computer, hold down the F12 key till boot screen shows up. Boot from DVD and run Repair to restore these files.

Unexpected I/O error has occurred--Status:Oxc00000e9

Check with Dell to see if you still have a warranty on it. It is covered, if your warranty is still in effect.

Dell inspiron 1525 laptop

Get a bootable Install CD for whatever version of Windows and re-install windows from the CD drive. (Windows XP Home I imagine). If the laptop won;t boot from a CD you can alter the BIOS settings to allow it. If you don;t care about your documents, do a DESTRUCTIVE install which will wipe your Hard Disk.  Beware if you do a non-destructive install  that if your problems originated from a virus it could still be on your Hard Disk. If you need help with getting the BIOS  settings changed lemme know.

Try check your hard disk with the other machine. Try running hard disk diagnostic test. If there's a problem with diagnostic test i suspect your hard disk is faulty. If you tried connecting with other machine then same problem, suspected also hard disk faulty. You might need to change it.
