Trane Air Conditioner air handler drips water

I've got a Trane model: twg030a140b1. The area behind the air filter is soaked with water. In fact we can fill a large tub (we placed inside) with water in few weeks. The drains a are clear and the pan is dry. I had a technician open up the air handler. It seems that water is condensing on the coils and dripping straight down to the air intake area behind the air filter instead of draining to the base and then out through the drains. The coils/radiator face in a 45 degree downward angle towards the area behind the air filter. There are visible drops condensing on the coils. The fan speed was set to medium so the tech changed the fan speed to high. This still hasn't solved the problem. I have an identical unit upstairs which doesn't have this problem. Both units share the same air so it may not be the humidity difference. The upstairs unit's speed was always set to high. The technician stated that there is some kind of fix for this "known" Trane issue, however he unable to find this part. I am assuming it'll be some kind of overlapping fins which will collect the water which drips down, but also allow air to pass through unimpeaded. Any ideas on where I can get this part?

    Yes the problem is still there. How can I confirm whether the configuration of the coil is properly installed? I can always compare it to the one upstairs, but what should I look for? Thanks

Amp draw on evap motor should run 80% of FLA to ensur max. efficency. Make sure fan is turning in the right direction water will run down coil if air isnt blowing it off. Gravity always takes over.make sure fan blades are clean and turning in the rite direction.

    Yes the fan is turning in the right direction. the AC does cool the house. How do I confirm the AMP Draw on the motor. We have set the speed on high already.

    just use a conventional clamp on meter to check amp draw.also check that the drain has a trap on it.I have seen these units have drain problems due to the unit sucking outside air in threw the drain and creating a vaccume inside handler.

Are you still having issues with your twg030a140b1? the heatpump that you own should not be having this issue the question is the configuration of the coil in the AHU is it properly installed. I am a distributor for Trane equipment and am wondering if the install tech installed correctly

CAPF3636C6AA where do I put the filter?
This model numbers associated with this post are for a heat pump system. Usually the filter is not located in these units but is located in the bottom of the air handler or furnace box. if it is not there then look either in the metal duct next to the air handler box or in the return grills in the living area of the home. I hope this helps:)

Air Handler is leaking water, drain lines are clear. does not leak when unit is on and the back is off the air handler
Most air handlers pull air through the evaporator coil which produces the water and then the blower sucks some of the water off the surface preventing the water from going to the drain pan. A drain trap at the drain pan should be also installed. All manufactures used to ship drip shield panel to install in drain for down flow applications, some do not now unless noted on order that the system is to be in the down flow configuration.

My system uses a permenant air filter. It's missing. It's a Ruud Model UBHC-21J18SHG. What size filter should I put in this system?
The Ruud UBHC-21J18SHG has a nominally 21" cabinet width. So the needed filter is 19.75" x 21" x 0.375" (502 mm x 533 mm x 9.525 mm). The Ruud part number for the filter is 54-23217-03 .

The specifications sheet for the Ruud UBHC series air handlers is available here: http://www.coburns.com/images/PDFs/h22-517rev1.pdf . The filter size information is on page 3 and page 12.

I've found the filter at one online vendor: http://www.patriot-supply.com/products/showitem.cfm/RHEEM_68_101807_03 . (This is a common filter that fits several manufacturer's air handlers.)

Hello You have to cut the pipe and blow out each end,You can use a 1"rubber hose from an auto parts store & 2 hose clamps, If you can't find the end.This will allow access in the future to clean out the pipes.It will slip over 3/4" PVC pipe.They sell a PVC pipe cutter but a hacksaw blade works well.Get ready for all the water in the pan once you cut!

I have a trane unit in the attic that is for the second floor and it is installed on i guess its side has to be that way water is comming out of this hole and into this pan that is connected but the pan...
The water is condensate, which is produced by the air conditioner (this normal), The hole you are refering to shoule be connected to a drain, and should have a "p" trap installed to allow proper drainage and prevent sewer smells from backing up into the air handler. The pan underneath it should be a secondary catch incase there is a problem with the primary drain (the hole from the unit). the secondary catch should also be equipped with either a drain to allow the water to escape, or a moisture sensor to shut-down the air conditioner, and alert the homeowner to the problem, by way of the house getting warmer. The fact that you describe it as simply a hole draining into the secondary pan tells me that this unit is not installed properly. I suggest calling the installing contractor to remedy the situation, before costly ceiling repairs are required.

How do I change the filter in my Ruud Achiever series
I'd look in one of 2 areas.

1. often there is a central return in the house. This is the place where the air gets pulled back to the unit and is likely very close to your thermostat. Check for a filtered louvered grill there and see if your filter is located here. If so, you can access the filter by opening the filter frame with a screwdriver or even a coin.

2. Otherwise I would expect that your filter is on the return-air side of your air handler (where the blower is) Older models have the filter actually inside the air handler in the blower compartment. Newer models may have a small separate filter door. I'd look in these areas.

Water dripping (almost running) out of the left corner of air handling unit. Help???
You're correct in checking the drain pipe, because it's become blocked. The only trouble is, you're trying to clear the wrong end. The condensate water is spilling out of the air handler because that's where the pipe has a clog. These pipes usually have un-glued joints next to the air handler, for times such as this. If you can't pull them apart, you may have to cut the pipes and reconnect tham with fittings from the hardware store. (which is a normal procedure.) I usually use a wet/dry shop vac when repairing this problem, sucking out the clog & the water, then blowing out the line to where it drains outside. I've also used the clothes hanger technique to drag crud out of the air handler fitting. Hope this is helpful. ;)
