Sony dvd108 camcorder won't record video only sound

Camcorder seems to be working as it plays back the sound but the video screen is scrambled with brown verticle lines and no picture. The screen works as I can navigate through the settings of the camera but it is not picking up any picture. It may have picked up some condensation the other night as it was outside for about 2 hours sitting on a table, could this have done permanent damage?

SOURCE: Sony camcorder

condensation is the situation where a sensor detects presence of moisture inside that is hazardous to the gadget, this will not be removed if no air flow can get inside, best way is to open any side and blow hot air inside. Not hot that can damage some parts.

It's possible because your DVD is an RW that someone could have reformatted it on accident erasing the video. If you have something important to preserve make sure you do not use an RW DVD because accidents can happen and it could get wiped out unintentionally.

SOURCE: Sony 8mm camcorder will record sound but no video

Since it is playing the tape, the play head is ok. Now recording is done by recording heads so you may have a clogged heads or damaged recording heads. Try to clean the heads with head cleaning tape to see if it would help. 1. remove the tape and leave the door open. 2. using a canned air, blow out any dusts in the tape area. 3. run head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds and no more. 4. try the recording.. If this does not resolve, you may have a damaged or heavy clogged video heads. Take it to nearest video technician for a diagnostic. -James

I have a sony dcr-dvd108. Can I get some help?

It sounds like your Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder may have a problem with the battery or the power connection.
For the battery issue, you can try replacing the battery with a new one that is compatible with your camcorder. The Sony NP-FP50 or NP-FP70 are compatible batteries for your DCR-DVD108. You can purchase them online or from a camera store.
As for the "Movie Disabled" message, it may be caused by the type of disc you are using. The Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder is compatible with DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, but it may not be compatible with all brands of discs. You may need to try using a different brand of disc to see if that resolves the issue.
Additionally, make sure that the camcorder is set to the correct recording mode, such as video mode, and that there is enough space on the disc to record the video. If none of these solutions work, there may be a problem with the camcorder itself, and it may need to be repaired or replaced.

I am so lost when it come to this thing

You have to convert the movie files from the camera to a format the PC understands. Search Sony's help section for this issue or get a program and adapter to record the video from the camcorder to a DVD on the PC.

Sony Handycam DCR DVD108

The only way to cut off the sound on a handycam is to connect up a blank micro jack plug to the microphone input. Unfortunately the DVD108 doesn't have this option.
