We have a Kenmore Haier mini fridge (2.7 cu ft) and we don't know which settings keeps the food cold. We tried to put it at 1 and the temperature did not change.Then we tried 7 and the water in the freezer melted.

Is the compressor again getting hot once you turn the temperature down? Will the refrigerator cool if you turn the temperature to as cold as it can get? Reason I ask is I am trying to decide if it is the thermostat or a defective staryt relay. Even at the cost of parts I would be careful and sure of what you are going to do here. Haier is not well know for quality products or customer support and there are other brands names out there that will support customers much better than Haier. Not trying to say bad things about your refrigerator I just hate to see when people invest into something and then get left holding something that Haier will not help with and does to all of their customer. Please look into the freezer for frost build-up on the rear wall. If you are having a defrost problem it may limit the freezer temperature and still be cold enough for the fresh food section to remain at safe temperatures but not for long before freezer and fresh food section warms because frost blocks airflow and the evaporator is unable to keep everything cold because of frost build-up. Locate your model number

On some small units such as this, the condenser coil is actually in the walls of the cooler. It is not that unusual for this type of construction. I have seen this in chest freezers and other such units. If the unit makes the desired temperature, I would watch it for a day or 2 before putting any product into it to ensure it is okay and so you don't loose any product.

Did you set the control to a warmer temperature by accident while cleaning? Check to make sure the temperature control is set to a position that has the cooler turning on. Usually 4-5 will suffice.

mam please check the settings of the freezer and the refrigerator settings should be in normal mode and if u find it in normal mode then the problem is here the temperature controler is not responding to cutt off and cutt in the freezer so please check this operation.

Really most folks have to keep their setting on their fridge on about a 6-7 or-8 setting with the amount of food that is kept in the fridge now.
YOU CAN KEEP AN EYE ON THE RELATIVE temp if you like by placing a fridge thermometer in the appliance. Optimal fresh food should be around 40-43 degrees F on average to keep things on the cooler side without freezing.

This could be that it is out of balance. Set the temperature settings to midway. This control can easily get the fridge temp out out of balance if over adjusted. If you already have the tmp control at midway then you need to make sure there are no obstructions to the duct that carries the cold air from the freezer to the fresh food section to cool it. Check for ice buildup or any kind of blockage. Let me know what you find.

If the unit is running continuously and not maintaining the temperature cold enough the system may have a leak. If it is NOT running continuously the problem could be in the temperature control.
