Getting My Mac to Recognize the Sony IC Recorder

So, I bought a Sony IC Recorder (ICD - P28).  It has an USB connection.  When I plug it in, however, the Mac won't recognize it.  Am I supposed to do something?  Install software?  (The software that comes with the IC Recorder is Windows only.)  I tried going through iTunes, but that didn't help.  It just seems as if the computer can't recognize the recorder.  Shouldn't it just pop up as a seperate drive?  I'd presume this isn't an insurmountable problem. Looking for software support for Sony ICD-ST10

I record music on my Sony IC, upload it to my PC at the office, concert to an MP3 and email it to myself and then transfer the emailed MP3 to Itunes.

Driver mac sony icd p520

Sony does not make available any software or drivers for this item on the Mac. That's not an issue at all! Just connect it up to the Mac with a USB cable and it should show up right on your desktop. If you need to edit the audio files store on the recorder, you can use GarageBand or Audacity.

I have a ICD-PX 312 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder, can I get a footpedal to use with it?

"I have a ICD-PX 312 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder"

Aside from the fact that it is a Handheld Recorder, is there a provision for plugging any remote controls to it?
Any mention of it in the User Manual?
I mean, there is a place to plug in a microphone, and there is a place to plug in an earphone.

Even if you could not buy it, a foot pedal is the easiest thing to make. The problem is, where are you going to plug it in?

I have a sony ic recorder icd-p110 but cannot download the files cause i have a mac, what can i do?

Well, I assume your computer has a Microphone plug. You can purchase or make a cable that would allow you to connect the recorder headset connector to the Computer Microphone jack and do it that way through media player.

I CAN'T USE MI IC RECORDER WITH MY MAC

There is no way to dump the data from the ICD-PX720 to a Mac. However, you can hook a 1/8" stereo cable, male at both ends, to the PX 720 and the line-in inputs on your Mac. Open Garage Band and record what you have on the PX720 in real time to Garage Band. I have been doing this with our church radio program, although I am considering junking the Sony and getting something that is actually compatible.

Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

I solved the problem by connecting my Sony IC Recorder to the USB port on my McBook Pro computer and then emptying the trash can on the Mac computer. Visually (flashing red indicator light) and audibly (the recorder's sound that indicates something being erased), it was clear that mp3 files were finally, really being erased on the Sony recorder even though the recorder's own screen display had previously shown only empty folders and no files. Dragging files to the trash can doesn't really erase them unless you also empty the trash. All dragging to the trash can does is somehow mark the files in a way that, unfortunately, makes them invisible to Sony's file detection system.

I have a Sony ICD-SX35 recorder which my iMac will not recognize. Any clues out there???? I need to convert the dvf files into MP3 or WMA format but that can't happen before my Mac recognizes the...

I took the advice of one of your correspondents by connecting my Sony ICD-SX365 recorder to my iMac with a simple audio cable by inserting the output jack in the recorder's slot for headphones and the input jack in the iMac's slot for microphones. I used the freeware program Audacity to import the track onto the computer and Switch to convert the file to mp3.
