No sound i have just bought the valve king 100 head and the cabnet. i have pluged a stero plug into the head and connected it into the cab. i have plugged the power cable into the head and a working power outlet. when i turn on the amp a big flash of light came from the head and i have yet to figure out how to get any sound. the red power light lights up but my guitar has not played a single note

I wouldsuspect the input jack needs cleaning/replacing.

I would first suspect the head... try driving a different speaker to isolate which is at fault.

If unit starts working when cooled down, it may be going into thermal protection due to any of several causes including a defect or overdriving it.

Could be that the male plug isn't connecting in its recepticle, or perhaps an internal wire or other connection is broken. If nervous about looking inside and perhaps resolving the problem, take the guitar to a qualified repair shop

are you popping fuses??? check the effects, preamp, and power amp jacks to make sure they (even if not in use) are Normally Closed. Sometimes they loose their contact to ground on the Tip of the jack, which opens the circuit and interrupts the normal function. then check the input jack for good contact to the pcb and solder joints, as well as all pots (especially the volume). if all this checks out, and it still is having issues, i would then move on to the grounding resistors (solder welds can heat up and break as these resistors get hot) and resolder them to the board. still no output, then diodes / rectifier / filter caps.

Always check your cables and connectors on them to make sure the cable is good and the connectors are not loose. This sounds like a bad cable or connection between the line output of your mixer and input to your stereo.
