Batteries only have a useful life, then they have to be replaced. Sounds like yours is doing like the ink cartridges, where they register as being full of ink when actually there is no ink in the cartridge.
3 orange flashes means flat battery. If you have a faulty charger or charger socket on the laptop then the battery wont charge or power up with just the charger connected. Look here:Lenovo
Follow these steps: Restart your computer in MS- DOS mode.
