I have a philips tv that i bought without a remote, and then bought a philips universal remote but am stuck on how to tune the channel with the remote. Very frustrating, cannot locate sticker stating brand what type of philips tv it is but i have a philips universal SRU 5030 remote and cant use it to tune tv. Help please.

Here are some steps to tune a Teac LED/LCD digital TV without a remote:

1. Find the TV's on-screen menu buttons on the TV itself (often located on the side or bottom of the TV)
2. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the channel setup or tuning menu
3. Select "Auto Tuning" or "Channel Scan" and follow the on-screen instructions to scan for available channels
4. If the TV has manual tuning option, select it and input the frequency, symbol rate, and other information for each channel you want to add manually.
5. Once the tuning process is complete, the TV should display all the available channels. If you are unable to access the menu without a remote, consider using a universal remote that is compatible with your TV or obtaining a replacement remote from the manufacturer.

A good place to fine cheep factory remotes is on e bay. enter your model and make, only buy factory remotes not universal .
Factory remotes can do things a universal one cannot.

There is one way to try. I would have your playstation connected to the A/V of your TV. Power up your game. Now try tuning your TV to channel 3 of course. Now, press channel down on TV a few times...You may get an input. I'm not sure if this will help, but try anyway. If this fails, you need to purchase a universal remote with an input selection. I recommend a Philips remote. TV remote model # SRP 1003/27. This number is located just left of the universal price code. I found this remote as one of the best. I am afraid thatyou need the original remote to access tuning universal remotes will not give you this option. An original remote will probably be very expensive check with your local TV dealer.

This is the user's manual for a Phillips remote control. There is a list of codes in it. They should be rather universal. There's also instructions as to how to program it. I believe that there is a way to program it without using the codes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

Yippie, I figured out a solution that worked!!! I have a univeral remote from comcast, on that remote near the bottom left is a small button that says (input) tv/vcr, press that one time and whala!! the tv video screen was gone, I had to manually change the channel from the tv channel button on the unit. once I changed the channel to 3, my universal remote worked... the button is the second one from the bottom left... I was on hold with sanyo for a long time and just kept trying on my own, so good luck!!!!
