Where do you add freq expansion mod in 2995dx? pimas

  • Anonymous Jun 13, 2010

the plug fits into a spot behind the freq display. The only problem is when I shut off power to radio it resets freq to 24... have to make sure when power is tured back on you dial back to your desired freq.

You put it on the CPU board, its called a (E-CHIP) if yours did not come with one, may be hard to find...You have to have a good steady soldering hand to do it. Have not done any of these, but did a few 2900 DX. ... hope this was helpful...

Testimonial: "cbrepair123 thanks, The 2995dx came with plug in type connector in heat shrink. I did this some time ago. I can not rember exact place to connect to. It looks like no soldering involved..."

Well ,on the 2900 it came with wires and plug, when you got the radio apart , and turned over solder side of main board is faceing you and back of radio toward you,on the right side of cpu chip count up 5 legs from the bottom, you will know you got the right one because there is no trace going to this leg.

If it was modded you may be in for a long haul. There are a lot of youtube vids on how to mod radios and not many of them do it correctly. Good luck

Midland 95 plus

Again another radio with illegal mods to go out of freq bands and FM is not authorized here by the FCC in the USA. I won't provide solutions to anyone with these radipo types. You want more bands, freq.s, power? Go Ham..

I have a new RCI 2995DX . that after 1-2 mounths it go's off frek

Have you herd it off freq? Do you have a freq counter? How do you know that the person that told you it sounds off freq don't have their receive off freq?

if its on a freq counter, and shows not off freq, then the radio is not off freq. There is some other problem.. Or no problem because if it is just some one else saying it, maybe they are just too picky.

Things that could cause your audio to change. If its in your mobile, diving around will make your audio sound different to people. Antenna or feed line problems. If there is a problem with your antenna or feed line, it could make your audio sound bad or off to some one else.

Also, if this unit has been modded, has the clarifier been unlocked? if so that will change your TX freq.

If the unit is new and nothing has been done to it, there should be no reason why it is off freq unless some one has done something to it.

Squeals when keyed up. Detecting talk back.

ITS JUST NOT THE TURNER MIC IT HAPPENS WITH ALL BASE MICS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2995DX WITH A ASTATIC D-104 & 1104-C AND ALSO ANY TURNER I HAVE USED BUT I CAN RUN A ASTATIC MOBILE D-104M6B OR RED DEVIL AND NO SQUEAL HAVE YOU TRIED GROUNDING THE CASE OF THE RADIO IT IS RF FEED BACK SQUEAL SO MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO RUN A 48 COPPER GROUND ROD INTO THE GROUND AND RUN A NICE GROUND WIRE TO THE BACK OR THE CHASIS OF THE RADIO AND IF YOU ARE USING ANY EXTERNAL AMPLIFIERS ALSO GROUND THEM AND YOUR SQUEAL WILL BE ILLMINATED

My ranger 2950 will receive but will not transmit, also where can i get a 6 pin mike for this same radio ?

check tr 51 (Q 51) the sb754 on the back side mounting of the radio.. the center pin (collector) of this modulator ic should not be 13 volts. my bet is that it is.. this test is done in am mode.. not sideband.
depending on you carrier setiing it should be between 3 -8 volts any higher in am mode and my bet is that its bad... much more common than the finals in this radio. good luck Rick
