Honestly, downgrading the firmware is tedious compared to upgrading it. I would suggest you have someone who has the technical knowledge to do this. Failed downgrade could lead to a bricked psp. Which will render it useless. Some can be reflashed and will work back while some cannot.
However, you can purchase a Pandora battery for you PSP. Remember: You CANNOT downgrade your PSP with any firmware higher than 3.50 without a Pandora's Battery.

i downloaded some games into my psp 3001 but could not read on the psp not to talk of playing the game. what should i do?
It is very important for you to know that before your psp would be able to recognize and play downloaded games, you have to downgrade your psp.
Firstly, this is due to the fact that psp recognizes file types in .PBP but most downloaded games are in .ISO or .CSO, This make it impossible for your psp to recognize the game.
Also, downgrading is a process which is in contradiction to the Law of using the psp system. This is because, it involves you installing a 3rd party firmware(usually referred to as custom firmware or CFW for short). Without doing this, you cannot play downloaded games because downloaded games are only recognized by CFWs.
Now that you probably understand why you cannot detect those games on your psp, it is good for me to tell you that most psp 3001 are usually un-hackable or not down-gradable. It is not advised that you do this to your psp as you could be causing more damage to it and not all versions can be downgraded.
At the same time, you would be violating the laws put together by the manufacturers, this could be a punishable offense.
If you feel you want to go ahead, you can go to any local game store or computer shop. They should be able to do it for you.

how can i downgarde my psp firmware version from 6.02 to 4.02. please help me. why i need to do this is that i cant play games through my memory card as i normally do with the firmware version 4.02.

wow! CDs only max out at 700mbs! A dvd has more use due to its 4000mb! come on dude what kind if question is that! all ps3 games are 0ver 2 gb
lol and its not downgrading! lol downgrading consist of puttin older versions of firmware on the psp... lol you need to mod the ps3 with a Hard mod! consists if installing a chip that by-passes the security chip that prevents you from accessing the full abilitys of the ps3

hi i got 5.2 slim psp why cant i play downloadable games on it do i have to get custom firmware put on it
You do have to install custom firmware.

Downgrade it to one of the earlier versions, try google for a 'how to' guide.

When I did mine I had to buy a pandora battery as well.

Sony don't make it very easy anymore! :(
