Canon Powershot G9 Flash problem
'When flash is manually selected in any shooting mode (even AUTO) the flash icon blinks on the LCD screen and the G9 doesn't capture anything.
It can capture pictures if the flash is switched OFF.
Can anyone tell me what wud be the issue 'n suggest a solution.. pls.
Thanks,
Pradeep
Hi guys, I have the same problem too. When flash is manually selected in any shooting mode (even AUTO) the flash icon blinks on the LCD screen ans the G9 cannot shoot.
It happened suddenly, before it worked OK.
I have another problem but I don´t know if it is related to the flash one.
After a certain time, the camera ask me to replace the battery pack, even if it is fully charged. I have tried with two different original cannon batteries with the same result.
Have any of you experienced the same thing?
Thanks.

Hi guys, I have the same problem. Flash is not working on any mode, including auto. Pressing the button doesnt do anything, nothing appears. Flash on Auto mode all the time, even when I press Manual still I cant regulate the flash.
Did you check the scroll wheel to make sure it is on auto and not disabled. Such small dials it is easy to change this setting by accident especially when you are adjusting the little area of focus feature.
SOURCE: G9 flash
In your display, is the small lightning symbol appear on the screen? Try cycling through the various flash options by pressing the "flash" lightning symbol to the right of the monitor. If the flash is set to flash when there's not enough light at the G9's descretion (with an "A" next to the symbol) then the flash may or may not go off. I oftentimes set the flash to go off all the time if the camera is not doing it automatically (with the A next to the symbol). Being in Auto mode versus the other preset exposure modes affect the flash options available too.
