Why does my g1 not read any sd card over 1g - HTC G1 Smartphone

Does the card "read" in a computer, or other phone? There the steps to try first, Also make sure its of a capacity the G1 supports, if the card does read in another device then your phone needs looking at, maybe try a freinds card in your phone? also if your card doesnt read in other devices, then your card looks like it is faulty.

Umm..... did u try formating the card? before you do that backk all info on computer via usb cable. if the G1 says mount to usb go ahead and mount it. in your case it might not work. but try it anyway. if no good goto settings on the G1 then goto SD and internal memory and tap eject SD card then pull it out then push it back into the slot tell me if it works on the PC now.

I have noticed that my SD card occasionally unmounts itself from the G1. You can go into setting to be sure that your SD card is reading. If not, simply remove the card and reinsert. Afterward, check in your picture folder, they should appear.

I had the same problem. so what i did is i created a back up on my computer and format it the sd card. and it had a bad file in it that was causing the problem. once i format it the card it was ready to be used again. just make sure you look for that corrupt file so you don't put it again to the already clean card. also i removed the sd card from the g1 and plugged it straigt to the computer. You can attempt to format the memory card directly from your PC

plug your G1 to your PC via a USB cable that came with it .., once you plug it in you'll get a notification entitled USB connected .. select it and then choose mount ... once thats done open your My computer icon , you'll see an exrta drive that wasn't there be4 somethig like K or M .. open that and you'll see all the content of your SD card .. copy and past everything to a folder anywhere in your computer ... then all you gotta do is replace the SD card , repeat the same proccess but then time copy everything back to your new SD card .

1.) Mount your camera
2.) Open your dcim folder in your camera
3.) In whatever file browser you're using (Explorer, Finder, Nautilus, etc) enable show hidden files.
4.) Remove .thumbnails folder
5.) Be sure to empty trash

See if that works.

Make sure your SD card is really snugly inserted to the device. Also check your SD card compatibility list on the manual. Some SD cards have issues with electronic devices.

If the card is read on your computer, try reformatting it..

you should format the Sd card by the software from rio, and I am using 1g SDcard ，I am not sure if 2g sd card works fine.
