HP Photosmart C7280 Laser Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 28, 2010

I have a photosmart c7280 and all of a sudden it won't print. I have done a diagnostic and it said that everything is fine. I have turned everything off, waited for 5 minutes and restarted - no printing. Checked all plugs & everything is on but nothing will print. When I right click on the printer in the task bar it shows documents in the que and the word "error", no explanation just error. I think there might be a connection problem because the printer "clicks" when first put on where it used to make more noise. The noise is still there just when it is first put on. I checked all the connections, no splits in the wires or holes. I don't know what to do? Any ideas?

I deleted all the documents in the que. tried printing a test page but still won't print. I used the setup button on the printer and it did print a page from the printer. I then tried printing from my laptop but the document went to the printer que with the message error printing. I printed a photo using the printer & sd card. So, the printer is working but won't print from the laptop. Somehow there is no "connection" between the laptop and the printer. Any suggestions?

I did check the port & made sure that it was the same as the printer & the printer name was the same also. I also hit the "configure port" button & received this message "an error occurred during port configuration - access denied." I also thought that it should be something simple - probably staring me right in the face but I just don't know what to do next. Thank you for your help. I do appriciate it.

You need to clear your print que. Go to properties and down to cancel all documents. then go back to properties and see if you can do a print test page.

go to your control panel open the printer icon single click your printer and then go to the bottom and click properties. You will open up a new box for properties. Go to 'Ports' across the top and open that - check to see what port the printer is trying to print from. Correct it if need be.
You do check the printer name when you click print right?? Just to make sure it is catching the right printer - I know this probably sounds pretty lame but when you the Print Test Page works it should be something simple.

Did you go online to check for updated driver software?

  • Anonymous May 30, 2010

disconnect your printer from the computer. uninstall the printer drivers totally. restart your computer. check your temp file to make sure you don't have other parts of the program stuck in there, (or a download file) if you do delete them as well and restart your computer. Reconnect your printer to your computer. Your computer should say it has found new hardware. you can let it run through and find the software on its own or shut that down and download the software for the printer drivers.

Can not scan to my computer

Hello,

Scanning thru a wireless connection is not supported on these printers. Printing does not require that much data to be sent back to the computer, scanning of course does. Printers require a bi-directional signal path to allow scanning such as USB and parallel ports. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Sometimes this utility helps with something like that.

The link is for a Windows XP or Vista 32 bit version. If you have a 64 bit OS, search for "print diagnostic utility" and install the 64 bit version. If you don't know if you have a 32 or 64 bit OS, you probably have a 32 bit version.
