Hi,
Before ordering a replacement remote make sure you have followed the troubleshooting steps provided in the manual, mainly:
If you have tried these but still the remote does not work, there is a good chance it can be repaired. It can be as simple as a bad solder joint particularly where the batteries are inserted and/or a faulty IR LED. The LED is what emits the signals and is located in the center, front of the remote.
To check the IR LED, view the remote through a digital camera's LCD (you can use a mobile camera-phone) while pressing a button on the remote. The IR signals emitted cannot be perceived by the human eye but the camera will see it glowing. If it doesn't then its probably faulty.
After making sure the remote is the culprit, call on 1-888-257-8899 and ask them for a replacement remote.
i tried what you said with the camera it showed the light but it still does not work the tv.
If the IR LED blinks on the press of a button then there are two possibilities: The batteries inside the remote are weak.
Static build up inside the remote.
Solution:Try new batteries (if not done already).
Remove the batteries and press and hold a button on the remote for two minutes. This will discharge any static present. Try again.
If the above does not work then it is likely that the IR sensor inside the TV is faulty and cannot process the incoming signals from the remote. Unfortunately this requires dismantling of the TV and the cost depends on where the problem is located and how the IR receiver board is connected. It will be fixed free of charge if in warranty. Its not wise to undertake this kind of repair if you are not familiar with electronic repairs as you may end up with a non working TV. Do you wish to fix it yourself?
