Yamaha Amp RX-V1700B Receiver - no power to head unit

Yamaha Amp RX-V1700B 7.1 Channel Receiver - no power to head unit. Removed all cabling except power cord, will not switch on. Tried a different power cord and different outlets, did not help. Removed cover and checked fuse - fuse is ok. What can I check next - or is it straight in to the repair shop?

Sound center

Replace center channel speaker with known good one. If no longer scratchy then the voice coil of removed unit is rubbing against the magnet pole and the speaker needs to be replaced. If the replacement speaker also sounds bad, then the amp for the center channel needs repair.

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to an amp or receiver. Get a cable like the one described here:

Yamaha RX-V757 No Left Channel Output - Video Sources Only

First - make sure it is not a defective cable by reversing the leads/colors on the inputs if problem then goes to the right channel then you know it is a bad cable/RCA, etc., connector. I would try that first.

Thanks,

Help setting up Yamaha RX-V461

Typically, only stereo inputs exist on any comsumer-grade receiver, and the actual decoding to 3, 4, 5, 6, and even 7.1 is done internal in the receiver. When a "placement" signal is detected by the receiver, the sound is routed to the correct speaker. Please refer to a user manual
