Battery won't charge

I have the Nikon Coolpix S570 and my bettery will not recharge. I have had the camera for less than a year and have not had any problems up until a few weeks ago when I tried recharging the battery. The light on the charger indicates that it is charges but when I put the battery into the camera and turn the camera on the camera goes off due to battery exhausted. Is this something I can fix or must I purchase a new battery?

Nikon Coolpix S570 - Monitor freezes after pressing any button on the camera body.

The new battery may be really dead (discharged). Please leave battery out for a while and then put it back in and plug in the power plug. (Do NOT push any button on the camera) Make sure the camera CAN CHARGE the battery first. Typically one Green LED lights up and another one flashes. If it does this then WAIT until the battery is fully charged.

Nikon camera battery keeps losing charge

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Date and time need to be reset everytime i charge the battery

in most of digital cameras there is a small rechargable battery or a capacitor bank used to store settings in memory for few minutes. if that battery is dead it cant hold settigns at memory.

Can i plug my nikon coolpix s570 into my computer to charge battery

No. You must either remove the battery and charge it in the MH-63 charger or use a nikon coolpix s570. The best bet is to get a second spare battery so that you can recharge a spent battery.
