Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.
I have the same fans...love 'em.. this should be a plug up type connection...? ... If you have to "twist wires"...stop and.call your electrician friend to help..there is obviously something different about the one...
.... sometimes the remotes do funny things...make sure you have the fan and remote settings matching...
... on mine, when the power blips off and on.. they fans either go to high speed or quit.. and all the light cut on high..
Sounds like the variable speed switch may be worn out. You should be able to purchase replacement switch at the local home depot- type store in the electrical supplies. Trying to get an exact match to replace may be a bit difficult, but a similar 3 speed switch should work just fine.
if the three speed switch is functioning the middle speed winding is bad. Either replace the fan or hook up a wall speed control and keep the fan on high.
first turn it off, then rotate the fan, half turn and try to turn if on again. if it start running again you have a faulty motor, and need to replace it. or if the problem continue, try replacing the switch in the wall.
