The user manual will supply an in-depth explanation of the led-indicators, aswell as there are normally small icons assigned to each light, sometimes engraved in the plastics, normal lights to be active at average usage are the Power led indicator, will glow as long as device is turned on, the Wireless led indicator will glow when the wireless network module is active, the CPU led indicator will flash occasionally when system is idle, and rapidly when system is active under load, and the Battery led indicator will be active when device is running on battery power. When device goes into sleep or hibernate mode the sleep led indicator might continuously glow or slowly switch on & off varying between systems.

Can I get the bios software for dell inspiron 6400

On the bottom of your laptop is a service tag number. Write that down and go to Dells website. In the upper right corner you will see a "technical Support" click that. It will open another page where you will then click on the "Drivers & Downloads" this will bring you to another page. Here you will click on " Choose by Service Tag" once you click that it will bring you to another page where you will then enter in your service tag. This will open the webpage to all your drivers for your laptop and the Bios software should also be there.

Hope this helps, and best of luck..

I have a Dell inspiron 6400 XP. My problem is i got a trojan a couple months back and my system crashed. I rebooted and reinstalled. Did not help at all. The drivers that are not working are- 3 base system...

After re-installing Windows, you also need to install the laptop's device drivers eg. LAN, audio, video drivers etc.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operatingsystem. Download usb driver

Look on the bottom of your laptop for a label bearing the "service tag". This is an alphanumeric string of approximately 7 characters. Then go to Dell's website, click the "Support" area (top right on web page I was given) click "Drivers and Downloads" section. Then click "Choose by service tag" and enter the service tag you found. Then pick your download and install.

Dell speaker driver missing for dimension 6400 speakers won't work

Do you mean Inspiron 6400 laptop? You need to go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the 6400 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
