First - I did not send in my question when I realized yours was a pay-for service. No offence, but I generally try to exhaust all approaches I can do on my own before going to paid assistance. Yes, it probably takes more time - but my rate is pretty low (ha).
Anyway - what I did was turn off and unplug the TV, the DVR and the Cable box, and
let them all sit from the time I left for work in the morning until I got home that night, about 12 hours. When I plugged everything back in - cable box first, then DVR, then TV, if that matters - everything was working fine.
I am not sure what caused this problem to begin with. I don't think it was the cable company (Comcast) because when I disconnected the TV from the cable service entirely the set was still blinking on it's own. I guess it is possible that the cable co triggered something - but how? We did have a loss of service from them for Internet access the day before the TV problem, but the set didn't have any problem until the next day. My wife thinks it was because the kids were playing a Wii console game before the trouble began - but the kids play with the Wii often enough without any later problems.
So, the set is working OK again and I am not sure why - can't get any good info from Mitsu on the web ....oh well .... now if I could just get the darned remote to work.
