If water slowly fills in the tub when not in use.

a) Most likely your machine inlet water valve not seating properly and closing. Change the machine water valve.

b) May be sink drain water back flowing to the tub. But you have checked that.

So it has to be the machine inlet water valve.

Try cleaning the screen on the faucit side of the hose. Then flush it out before re-installing it.

That is exactly correct!

you only need prime to pump water out if you are not getting water to D/W it is most likely the water control valve

The heater is on after a cycle to sterilize and dry the dishes. This is normal.

Are you using a sheeting agent such aas "Jet Dry" in the dispenser (it is usually filled by a plug on the door).?

Replace the water solenoid valve

Under the machine is the water inlet valve. if you take off the front end of that you find a filter which fills up with rust, and you can clean it out. If that doesnt work, repairclinic.com will sell you a new valve for 32

Make sure inlet water temperature is correct.(SeePage6.)
Unload the bottom rack first.Water from dishes in the top rack may be spilling in to the
bottom rack.
Check for improper loading.Dishes shouldn’t nest together. Avoid overloading. Check the rinse agent dispenser to see that it’s not empty.

Inlet temperature....Good Dish washing starts with hot water, To get dishes clean and dry,you will need hot water.To help you get
water of the proper temperature, your dish washer automatically heats the water in the wash cycle. For good washing and drying , the entering water must be at least 120°E To prevent dish damage,
inlet water should not exceed 150”F. How to test water temperature: Check the water temperature inside your dishwasher with a candy or meat thermometer. Let the dishwasher run through
one fill and pump out cycle, then let the dishwasher fill with water
the second time. When you hear the water stop filling, unlatch the door and slowly open it. Measure the temperature of the water in the bottom of the tub this way: Remove the silverware basket and
place a candy or meat thermometer in the water towards the middle of the tub. If the temperature is less than 120”F,you will not get good washing results. Higher water temperature is needed to dissolve grease and activate powder detergents. If the unit is a long way from the DW you may need to let the water run in the sink until hot before starting the DW....or if is a cold day and water has not been used in a while the pipes could be cold....also if you have just used the hot water ( washer, shower...etc) give it time to recover first before using DW....All of the above mentioned material is straight out of the Users guide...but you may have an element that is going out also...so check the temp of your water and open it during the drying cycle to see if it is hot or at least warm inside...if not your element may need to be replaced...

Is the water clean water or dirty water? This may sound like an ignorant question, but it can make a difference. If the water is clean water, it sounds like you could have a bad fill valve. If the dishwasher is filling with water when it is not running, chances are the fill valve is leaking. The valve is closed when the float switch senses the tub filling to a certain level. The valve is also closed when not energized by the control board during drain, drying and off cycles. However, if the valve diaphragm is not seating properly when closed, it will continue to leak by. That's probably why you don't notice it while is running and it has a chance to fill during the night when not in use. Here's what to look for: With the dishwasher off, take a towel and dry the tub as much as possible. Now, locate the fill port where the water comes in (usually on the left hand side of the tub). Watch this fill port closely for several minutes to see if water is running in. It could be as minute as a trickle or drip. If any water is coming in at all, the fill valve should be replaced. Now, another problem that can occur is when you notice dirty water staying in the tub or overflowing. This is usually caused by a bad check valve in the drain pump that's allowing water to leak back from the sink into the tub. Or, you do not have a high loop in the drain line. Here's what to look for: Check to make sure the drain line has a high loop as it leaves the dishwasher and before it gets to the drain pipe at the sink. That is, make sure the drain hose is looped above the trap in the sink and not laying under the sink somewhere. You can also try filling the sink with water and open the dishwasher door. Drain the sink to see if anything is getting fed back into dishwasher. If you see water starting to fill in the tub, chances are you could have a bad check valve. Some dishwashers have a check valve in the drain pump, while other models have the check valve located in the drain hose itself. Some don't have one at all.
