Baystack 425-24T Port 26 disabled

Hi,

I have a standalone 425-25T and port 26 is disabled. I cannot find a way of enabling it.

Someone in september on this forum suggested using the "no shutdown port 26" command from the CLI, but i get the response Bad Port number.

Any Ideas ????

Problem with cisco sg500

I'm not familiar with the device, but it might be something in the configuration. It could be DHCP, it could be something deeper.
I suggest contact Cisco support directly, they have support forums too.

How to connect 2 unmanaged 24 port switch as one unit

You can connect them using a x-over cable to an unused port. the switch should detect the other switch and trunk it automatically. (don't connect more than 1 or you will get a switching loop and possibly a broadcast storm... which is bad)

I have and Canon iR3570 and when SNMP is disabled the printer goes offline and network printing ends. Enable SNMP and change the default community to something more secure and printer goes offline and...

It's possible that the SNMP Status Enabled box is checked on the print server (Printer/Properties/Ports/Port Settings). When you disabled SNMP or changed the community name on the printer, the server was no longer getting status updates and so flagged it as offline. Make sure the community names match.

I don't know how enable infrared port in my pc - ibm thinkpad x 41

By default, currently available ThinkPads come with the external serial port disabled and Infrared enabled on COM1. To use the serial port on COM1 you must either disable infrared or change infrared so that it uses alternate resources. If you are not using infrared for printing or file sharing it is recommended that it be disabled. Here are the steps to follow to enable infrared :

1. Double-click your ThinkPad Features or ThinkPad Configuration icon located in the ThinkPad folder on your desktop.

2. Locate the Infrared button located on the left-hand side of this configuration screen and click it once. (Note: If you hold your mouse pointer over any of the icons in this configuration screen the button will be identified at the bottom in the status window.)

3. Change Infrared from "Disable" to "Enable" and click "OK".
4. Locate the serial port icon and click it once.
5. Select serial port "enable" and insure that the COM PORT setting is "COM 1" and click "OK".
6. Shut down and restart the computer.

Baystack 425 flashing amber on all ports

Make sure you're using the correct console cable...if it's not wired correctly, hyperterminal will continue to give you a blank stare no matter what you do. A great way to verify your cable is to try it on another switch that's working ok. Your hyperterminal comm settings should be 9600 baud, 8 data bits, one stop bit, no parity, and flow control disabled...assuming no one changed the default console settings on the switches.

If you are still having trouble getting a prompt from the console, you can try the following procedure, although this is only known to work on earlier versions of the Baystack switches...

Shut down the power and wait for about a minute. With hyperterminal connected...turn on the power and type "NetICs" (don't include the quotes) within 15 seconds of turning on the power. This should place you in a privileged mode and allow you to use the menu to reset the switches to factory defaults. Good luck!
