HD 4651/C Electric Kettle Handle switch lights but wont heat

I have the same problem with a cordless HD4651 kettle where the unit stopped heating, but the handle switch still lights up. I read your post and I took the kettle handle portion apart and found a tan switch assembly near the push button in the handle. Is this the thermostat and thermal fuse assembly or is that in the base unit?
I've been having a little bit of trouble finding a parts supplier in the Mpls, MN USA area, but I'm still looking.

This maybe the thermo fuse, and or the heating element that is defective. These parts must be properly replaced for safety issues.

Usually these appliances are not worth to service.

Mt HB kettle 40886 has stopped working. The switch moves into place, but doesn't light up or heat up the water. Can I fix this?

Whats very common on cordless kettles is the contacts inside the base get badly caboned up, You can fix it by opening up the base, and cleaning the three contacts with a disposable nail fie. Then re-assemble and it should be fine. If you can get at it, the ring and the center contact in the bottom of the kettle can also be cleaned with the file.

There seems to be a loose connection between base and bottom of kettle . At first I could press down on the pot and it would start heating . Now I can

If it uses a detachable base to the kettle tank with electrical contacts, sometimes the base or kettle connector must be replaced. You will need the proper tools and wire connectors to be able to replace these parts.

Technically speaking... These are not worth servicing.

My electric kettle is starting to break.

It sound like the temperature sensor that switches the kettle off when it has reached the correct temperature is faulty. It would probably be cheeper to replace than repair

My daughter bought me an Alessi cordless kettle for Christmas 2008. After 9 months it simply stopped heating water! The red light was lit on the base, so we knew the fuse hadn't gone, but it was completely...

Have you tried using it on a different socket outlet ? Possibly there is a problem with the wiring at this socket.
If the electricity supply "trips" at the consumer unit it is either the RCD which trips due to e.g. the base of the kettle becoming wet or alternatively the MCB tripping due to an overload which shouldn't happen unless there is a fault in the kettle.
When you got a replacement kettle presumably they replaced the base also?

My kettle is turned on and the switch lights up but it does not heat up.

in this case i would say the element has burned out they are not a servicable unit and would be cheaper to replace than fix

best of luck.

I have a dualit 72402 kettle which is not heating, when put on base, switch will stay down and neon lights possibly the element has gone but I cannot unscrew base of kettle to check it,do you sell this tool...

I have a similar problem and spoke to Dualit who say that the element is probably blown. As the unit is sealed into the base it is not repairable and should be scrapped. Not really a solution more a way forward

Red light's on... but no hot water!

OK, inside the unit there are three items, the heating element, thermostat, and thermal fuse. What has happened is the element got too hot and the thermal fuse opened. There is no reset button. In some cases you may run across a defective heating element or thermostat but its not common. The fix would probably be replacement of the thermostat and thermal fuse. For this, you would have to contact a small appliance repair center in your area.
