Im afraid that the advice you gave me for my motherboard didnt work, ive posted a reply in the relevant forum but im not to sure how fixit works, so i thought id ask you directly =)
the drivers you linked me to from the MSI site were the ones i was already using, and i tried to install the drivers from the nvidia site, but still no luck. unfortunatly im unable to access the internet on the computer with the problem, i am using another computer and transfering the drivers with a USB stick instead. how would i find out which set of drivers i need? just incase i installed the wrong drivers. i used the nForce 4 AMD drivers from the nvidia website, as far as i know that was what i needed.
also, a little off topic, but i have another question, when i boot the computer (the one with the ethernet problem) during the POST just before the screen where it says "verifying pool data" the boot up stops and says floppy disk - failure (40) or something along those lines, and i have to press f1 to continue. its only a minor problem but any help is appreciated, thank you.
I think you did right. Using MSI's web site. the nforce will list the latest drivers but re-call you checked them & their dates were the same as MSI's. It's better to wait untill you can connect with the nVIDIA site directly.
The error you received for the floppy. (this could be a linked issue for you're SMbus controller). Read the link profided. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000474.htm
Get that out of the way before the SMbus controller can be addressed.
Mike

seems to be a problem with the board (can't say for sure if its on hardware or firmware side). i don't think removing a cd while resuming is gonna do this but there are specific instances wherein removal of certain pen drives or other usb storage devices has resulted in a lost Hibernation session.even then you are usually provided with an option to delete the restoration data and start over. try resetting the BIOS settings if you are able to get into the settings page. otherwise try manual reseting by removing the BIOS button cell inside the laptop and replacing after a while only(say 30-40 seconds).
if you are using internet explorer, try using Firefox browser. sometimes these problems occur sometimes with internet explorer freezing up the computer. if you like to download and install Firefox, click here. once you go to that particular website, on the right hand side middle of the page, you will see the option to download it. if you still have the problem, please reply to this post. thank you
Thank you for your sunshine. This is not the kind of query with which Fixya can really assist you, I'm afraid - have you thought of consulting the many on-line forums which exist to offer advice on exposure and software. Good luck.
Disconnect the hard drive and dvd from the motherboard Power on If you get video and cmos access power off and connect dvd repeat and connect hard drive getting video and cmos access has nothing to do with the hard drive...with no hard drive or optical drive you still would have access to cmos go 1 step at a time to find bottle neck

I had the same problem with my computer locking up while formating and it turned out to be the hard drive, so try a different hard drive and see if it helps.
