There are two feeders on this MP730. There is the sheet feeder on top and there is the paper feeder on the back. You can have problems with both.
The sheet feeder on top.
If the problem is things go through somewhat sideways, and if this is the problem, stuff some postit notes between the back grey thing and the feeder tray to eliminate this problem. Add or subtract to the wad to make it right.
If the problem is it does not grip the sheet, what I used to do is to help it through by one sheet at a time, painful. I got frustrated with this so for scanning, I have a Snap Scan 1500, which is faster and better.
The paper feeder.
A small piece of paper left in the paper infeed path can cause a major problem. You cannot have anything in the paper path that will skew the paper, so you must get any little bit of restriction out of there.
As the printer gets older, you will have to produce your own guides to prevent this skewing, as the guides on the printer do not do this well. I use clamps and wooden guides to keep things in line.
Most probably is something stuck at the paper feeding area or FEEDER ASSY faulty.
