You need to use the supplied Sansa Media Converter program to convert photos (and videos) to a format the Sansa can handle. If you don't have the SMC, you can download the Windows version from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3IPZO6Q0

Thus, have a look at the manual, see what photo formats is supported by the the player and just convert the pics to the correct format and copy to the player.
