How can I turn off the flash on my Canon PowerShot SD600?

Try these procedures.

Yes. Repeatedly press right on the multiselector (marked with a lightning bolt) to cycle through the different flash modes. The choices are Auto, Auto Red-eye Reduction, Red-eye Reduction On, On, Off, and Slow synchro. They should be described on page 9 of the Basic Camera User Guide.

Don't forget to change it back, or you'll get the flash on every shot thereafter.

Press the flash button (right-arrow on the control panel, marked with a lightning bolt) repeatedly to cycle through the flash settings. To turn the flash off, select Off, marked by a lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it.

Don't forget to turn it back on when you're done.

Having received no response in over a month, I assume this is no longer a problem.

According to the Canon website, your camera is not SDHC compatible, which means that 2 GB is the maximum size.

I have the same problem.. however I did leave my camera in my car for the past couple of weeks.. and it has gotten pretty hot in there.. I'm guessing the heat busted my flash..

Press the flash button and then select icon where flash is crossed out.
