Buzzing sound after we spilled water on it - GE 36 in. JGP628 Gas Cooktop

You probably had a bad connection now with pop probably separated. You may also have a bad thermal over heat device. one brand is Thermodisk. But you need to know what you are doing. Might be time to replace.

This is a very common problem when moisture comes in contact with the ignitor. The ignitor sometimes stays in one position causing the clicking sound. it will eventually wear itself out. Best thing to do is try to take it apart, clean it, dry it and adjust it if necessary. If that doesn't work for you, then the ignitor may have to be replaced. Good luck

I would make sure you have wiped up all the water you spilled, You may need to take the burners off the stovetop and make sure the tiny little pinholes for the gas to come out are fully dry, Than re-assemble everything and try again.

Hi, normally what causes the igniter to keep clicking is spilling water or something down into the knob area. The water is causing a short circuit in the switch which is mounted on each burner valve shaft. If unplugging the range for several days to allow drying doesn't fix the problem, then one of the switches will need to be replaced.

It sounds like you shorted out your spark module. You may have to replace it. Refer to your owners manual for a loaction and possible part number

The water that you spilled onto the cooktop has shorted out the ignition switch in the gas control knob. Don't worry though no permanent damage has been done. Leave it unplugged from the electrical outlet for a day or two until the liquid dries out. You can manually light the burners with matches or a BBQ lighter in the meantime. If you want to try and speed up the drying process you can use a hair dryer.

sounds like your spark module is being grounded out could be from something you spilled on the cooktop or it is just gone bad. if it is water it could take a week or so to dry out then problem will go away. have you spilled anything latley?

It is possible that once the unit dries out the clicking will stop. If it doesn't, you will need to call someone to have the problem addressed. You will need a spark module and or an ignition switch(s).

Sounds like the spill got into one of the burner switches. This is not a big problem. Once it drys out it should return to normal. However if it keeps on clicking it could mean that one of the switches shorted out and will need to be replaced. The switches are located under the burner control knobs on the valve. Hope this helps.
