I found my ten year old pc works cambridge soundworks computer speaker system. Without power supply cord and adapter. It says 12 volt at the socket for the power supply. Could I put in other power supply? What specs. should I look for?

I'm in the same predicament! I found this - it seems close, though the pins seem to be spaced closer together, but it looks like they might be bent to fit the wider PC board spacing. The rotating shaft also seems smaller - the original is larger than 1/4". What do you think?
Connect the power to the power board that supplies mains power to the computer. Connect the audio input cable from the speakers to the audio out socket on the computer, this is the green socket on the computer.
As far as I know, SoundWorks speaker systems don't have a CD slot. Why would they? They're supposed to be connected to a computer, which has a CD/DVD drive.
do they plug in with a 3.5mm audio jack? if so, i think you need to check your drivers for laptop output socket. have you tried output with any headphones etc? do they work on laptop?

Well, easy task, just put a music CD, on system and if you got an headphones, put in the green connector on your sound card, pop up the PC volume, and see if you heard sound, if you do, heard sound then the problem is your speakers. if don't is your sound card.
