Honeywell RTH230B cooling problems...

I have installed a Honeywell RTH230B thermostat-- heat worked great, AC won't come on. I have tried most of the solutions posted here to no avail, to include removing the blue wire and using a jumper between Rc and Rh

Wired as follows:

AT THERMOSTAT:

Rh= Red wire
Rc= Blue wire
W= White
Y= Yellow
G= Green
NO JUMPER

AT FURNACE/AC:

24V= Blue wire
R= Red wire
W= White wire
Y= Yellow wire
G= Green wire

Let me know what you think!!!! THANKS!!!!!

    What kind of system do you have? Is it a heat pump or is it some type of furnace with a/c?

I printed out the instructions for your thermostat. It looks like you should have the following.

There should be jumper wire between Rh & Rc

Red wire to Rh or Rc whichever is easier since there is a jumper. This is the hot wire and all the thermostat does is connect to route it to the components needed for heating or cooling.

Blue wire, tape it up and don't use it. There is no spot on this thermostat for it. It is only used on thermostats that are powered by the transformer.

White wire to W. Powers the heat relay

Yellow wire to Y. Powers the cooling contactor

Green wire to G. Powers the indoor fan relay

There is a black jumper on the back of the face plate. Look at section 2.4 Setting J2 Jumper in the installation instructions. Make sure you have it in the right position for what you have. If you don't have them just google them.

Hope this helps.

    The wiring I listed is for the thermostat. I guessing you haven't changed any wiring at the furnace, just listed what you have already there.

New instruction manual for RTH230B

Do you mean the Honeywell RTH230B programmable thermostat? Most of the Honeywell thermostat manuals are available here: http://yourhome.honeywell.com/en/faqs/thermostat . Scroll through the pages to find the RTH230B or use the search feature. The search engine found the installation and user guide in three different languages, see https://yourhome.honeywell.com/en/supportsearch#q=Rth230b . The direct link to the manual in English is https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/69-0000s/69-1800.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I installed a Honeywell RTH230B model thermostat. The heat works fine, but the AC is blowing warm air. Wires from old system are as follows: Y=yellow; G=green; R=red; O=brown; C=blue; E=white (it looked...

the colors of old system are for heat pump.if you have a heat pump you need heat pump thurmostat and colrs will make more sense.if not,then you need to go into furnace to see what colors go where.yellow is cool, goes to compressor contactor,usually another wire going from furnace to outside unit.green is fan relay rh is heat call rc is cool call

I replaced the battery to honeywell RTH230B. Heat won't turn on.

I followed a comment from a previous source and reversed the polarity of the batteries. I then flipped them back to the correct position and the flashing battery indicator went away and the thermostat functions correctly.

Honeywell RTH230B will not call for heat.

On a call for heat an internal switch should connect Rh and W, if it does not the stat is bad. Try it with no wires connected.

Cool air not working with honeywell Model # RTH230B

Do you have a heat pump? If so, not compatible. What i did was move the jumper on the thermostat (RH RE). This is on the inside of the thermostat - NOT the red jumper!!! and got the AC working (the heat had already worked during the winter, problem only became apparent when I needed to use AC). I may have to change the jumper again when the season changes...not sure yet.
