TO: walesarumi. Your solution is no solution at all. I stated in my question that despite opening the printer paper door the message would not go away. Please don't waste my time repeating the same solution, it doesn't work. Please cancel my request and do not charge my account. Thank you, ed Bouche

Hello,

the error message means there is something wrong with the printer and if the problem is not attended to, the error message will not go away.

In this case, the error message showing on your canon ip4300 is related to a door problem. It has something to do with the front door of your printer. I think the front door of your printer is closed of which is supposed to be opened.

So, the solution is to Open the paper output tray of your printer and the problem should be solved.

Good luck.

The orange light on pixma iP4300 is flashing 5 times. I have cleaned the printhead (gold contacts) with alcohol PJ

Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or a mixture of hot water and isopropyl alcohol
Use it to clean the print head and the electronic contacts on each ink cartridge
Once done, allow to dry and try again
If the error still persists, you have a damaged print head which needs to be replaced with a new one
Hope this help!

My canon pixma iP4300 keeps telling me to open the out put tray, and i do but it still doesn't work. What should i do to fix this?

Just below the "Canon" logo on the front panel there should be a door that releases and drops to reveal the print exit tray. There should also be an extension handle that pulls out of the drop down door to support the longer sized pages such as letter or legal.

Printer Error

on the ip4300, the clips that hold the front of the cover on are on the bottom, not the front as shown in the service manual for the 4200.

I think your on the right track, youv'e probably dislodged or broken a micro switch, screws are mostly underneath, be careful this could turn into a Mecano Nightmare! Good Luck the Yeti

CD printing

there is a small, square button near the right, front corner. think of it as the button for the refrigerator light. It must be depressed by the closed top or maybe something to wedge it down. Duh
