Transfer calls to voice mail

We have a Panasonic KX-T7731 phone system. How do we transfer a call into a persons voice mail so we do not have to take messages?

We already have a VTR button programmed but we still cannot transfer a call into someone's voice mail.

  • Anonymous May 25, 2010

107 is an extension to our graphics department and 115 is set up to check plant voicemail and it does work. When we dial #6 it gives us a busy signal.
Can we program one of the PF buttons to transfer operator assisted calls to personal voice mail boxes?
That seems to be the problem, when the call is operator assisted we cannot transfer it but when it comes in after hours it can go to voice mail.

We have done everything you suggested and still no luck. This seems to be the problem...when the call is operator assisted we cannot transfer it but when it comes in after hours it can go to voice mail. Could there be a wrong setting programed in the network box?

It depends on what system the 7731 is attached to. If it's a TA system, that you dial either 107 or 115 to get to the Panasonic brand voice mail system, you take a spare button from the left side keys and press PROGRAM the spare button and dial 94+107 or 115 then STORE.

Pick up the handset and drop it back down to end programming. Then label the button VTR. When a call comes in, you press VTR and dial the extension or press the DSS (extension) button. You don't press HOLD or TRANSFER, just the VTR button.

It's all on page 158 of the OM http://www.public.carl.airpost.net/Pana/TA-824/200_TA_OM_07-04%5B1%5D.pdf

If you are not using a TA series system, the instructions may be different.

What happens when you dial 107 or 115? If the VTR button doesn't work, reprogram it. Is that user's mailbox in the VM system? Start by dialing the sequence by hand. Press #6 and the user's extension. That tells you if the VM Box is active.

Outside of that, it pretty much has to work.

O.K. Start again. Program a LIT button (left side) by pressing PROGRAM the button 94107 STORE Now, when you press that button from a live call, it puts the call on hold and is looking for a 3 digit extension number. Any number you dial from 101-114 will work. No, you cannot store it on a PF button directly, but you may be able to put the 3 digit number in the PF button (PROGRAM button 3digts and STORE) so that you can press VTR and the PF button and hang up.

Alright. I'm in a relatively good mood. Send me your phone number ([email protected]) and I'll call you. The hope is that you have two phones, one at extension 101 and the other to talk to me.

I'm available from Thursday EDT 6PM to 10PM and Friday from 10AM to 3PM. Other times are negotiable. Let's see just what the machine is doing to hate you so much :-)

I receive a call from outside, press flash and dial the extension but it the person to whom I direct the call can not get the call and if I try to return to the call, it is disconnected.

The FLASH button is for outside calls. Try the TRANSFER button. If the inside party doesn't answer, press the outside line button that's flashing green. If you have a Panasonic brand voice mail, you can also transfer the call to voice mail with another button.

How do I set up my voice mail or know if I can acquire messages? I have a Panasonic KX-T7731 phone system!

You have a 7731 phone. The phone system could be any one of 18 Panasonic cabinets, but probably a TA series. Voice mail could be a BV, TVx box, or central office based. If CO based, an 824 will listen for the stutter dial tone and light the MW light on a phone. There are instructions to make that work.

So, try editing your question to give a bit more information and it makes it easier to give you an answer.

Trying to retreive messages and now it's saying invalid number. used to I would just dial 115, then promted to put in 115# and would get message. Now just says invalid number. How do I fix this. ...

115 is the port the voice mail is on. The prompt is "enter password then #". The password is your voice mail password from the extension you're calling from. If you are trying to get your messages from another phone, press #6 * and your extension. It will then ask you for your password to your voice mail.

There are FOUR system manuals and TWO manuals for the TVA or TVS voice mail system. None of them say 7731 on the face of them, so post back with you KSU and Voice mail models.

I bought a home with the Panasonic KX-t7731 phone system installed. We have a new phone number. I am unable to set up voicemail (although voicemail answers) and I am unable to retrieve my messages. Help!

What's answering the calls, is it the Panasonic system or the central office? When you figure that out, and it's locally, then post back with the model number of your phone sytsem cabinet and whether you dial 107 or 115 ot get into voice mail, or the message is left in the central office.

How do you set up the answering machine to answer phone calls when you are on the phone.

If you have a Panasonic voice mail system, you use the FWD/DND button, dial 2 and 107 or 115, whichever is your voice mail number and # (also 712-xxx-#). This is the instruction for a TA series system tied to a TVS or TVA voice mail system, so yours may be different.

CAN'T TRANFER CALLERS TO VOICE MAIL

A Panasonic system and Pana branded voice mail has a VM Transfer key that lets you send a caller to voice mail. It's programmed by picking a button down the left side of the keystrip (CO) and pressing PROG, the button, 94+ the VM extension, and STORE. (In a TA-824 system it would be either 107 or 115).

The TRANSFER button would work if the extension has CF set (All Call or Busy/NoAnswer), but there would be a delay. At the very least, when you tried yours, you were either dialing the VM extension which is probably not vailid because it won't let you transfer to yourself, or an invalid extension.

How do I transfer a call directly to voicemail?

If it's a Panasonic voice mail system you program a button for VoicemailTRansfer. Pick an unused button and label it VTR. Now, you need to know what the access number is for voice mail. It's usually 165 or 500. Then you press PROG the button and dial 94+ whatever number VM is and ENTER.

On the original installation, your installer should have at least given you 2 buttons, one for record and one for transfer. We usually give the customer a 3rd button called 2-way transfer. If your system is a TVA, there is a patch to record conversations as new messages, and if you have the optional LAN card(on the 50, it's already in the 200) for voice mail to email, it can send out the wav file at the end of the call.

How to forward incoming calls

There is a feature that most dealers do not activate called "Voice Mail Transfer" which transfers an incoming call to a person's (or department's) voice mail box. Forwarding calls to someone's mailbox is not possible without special programming by a certified dealer.

We have a support package that allows us to make all the changes you need over the Internet for a flat annual fee. If you want your whole system to work properly and all changes to be made for you at a flat budget, call us at 877-236-8376.

Remote Access

When you call in from the outside wait for auto attendant to answer. As soon as the "Thank you for calling" starts, press [*], and your mailbox number. If that does not work you may need to put a [#], 165 before the [*], mail box. This is assuming that most voice mail and auto attendant settings are operational and you have a Panasonic KX-TVS voice mail.
If a live person (not to be confused with the living dead) answers, have them transfer you to voice mail and do the whole [#], 165, [*], your mail box thing.
