What your unidentified TV >>requires<< is the BEST Video from every video source. That would be the DVD, SAT Box. It probably has multiple high-end video inputs, right?
What your receiver needs is at least a basic composite video connection to the TV so you can set it up and manage it.
A web search for "Pioneer VSX-D308 manual" will find the manual.
ALL of the BEST Audio should go directly to the Pioneer. That includes the SAT and DVD player.
Your TV can exist just fine with basic audio from the video sources. And you could still watch it/them without the Pioneer turned of if you want.
I can't find the exact manual for free anywhere but if you download something similar like
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Pioneer-VSX-D409-Receivers-manual/id/385ci977/t/2/ it should give you the basic guidance you need.
I recommend
Do some web searching for what the cables are for. It's all basic and standard.
