This lasted until now. please help regarding problems solvingnya. thank you.
The main battery you remove is at END OF LIFE (means BAD)
buy a new one (BAT), like all person with 8 years old batteries do.
all do, even mine. (we have same unit parked i attic now, I hate it)
do not mess with CMOS battery it will be good. Coin cell
doing so scrambles your BIOS and now in a PICKLE.
and 100 more questions.
There is a coin cell battery inside the netbook that needs to be changed.

Mine has the exact same problem (dv9000). just called tech support, which in my opinion has improved dramatically since earlier this year, and they told me something is loose and they will probably replace the backlight. glad i bought the extended warranty! I have a feeling that the light chassis of this laptop has something to do with it because i have had screen problems with this laptop every few months. The lid feels looser on the hinges and more fragile than my old 8000 model. If the darn thing didnt look and perform so well i probably wouldnt ever buy an hp again!
SOURCE: while booting hang , only showing f10 boot screen .
Here it is.
1. When asked to press F10, do it! It will take you into bios setup, then load "bios defaults", then "save and exit"
You should also try to update you bios and all your drivers. Come back here for instructions if #1 do not solve your problem.
If you find my solution usefull, please rate it at FixYa.com

If you are able to get into the BIOS (there are usually instructions that indicate how to enter setup during the boot process), attempt to locate a command to complete a physical scan of the hard drive. This is the first step to determine if the failure is hardware or software centered.
If hard drive test passes, then you may be able to use the restore disk that is supplied by the computer manufacturer and restore the operating system.
If the hard drive fails the test. This will indicate physical damage to the hard drive, and it will need to be replaced. If this is the case, your data may be recoverable by removing the hard drive and connecting it externally to another PC.
Hope this helps.

Go into the BIOS by pressing f10 when powering on the laptop.
Go to System Configuration and choose Device Configuration
Scroll down to SATA Native Mode and disable.
Press f10 to save configuration. The computer should reboot and press f9 to select boot device.
See if the 160GB hdd is now showing as an option. If it is then you are in luck.
p.s: You may need to update the BIOS to the latest if it still does not show up for you.
