I have a Kingston 2.0 Pen Drive. I had photos in it which I wanted to recover. The pendrive showed me the photos and suddenly it said it needed to be formatted. I plugged it out and replugged it. The data could not be seen. I decided to format it. I used the inbuilt windows 7 utility to format it. But it doesnt format. it now shows that there is no deivce. I cannot do it even using cmd. Also I dont find my pen drive listed in Disk Management options for any operations I could perform. i downloaded Hp Repair utility but it says it is write protected. what do i do.. >??

Do not format the drive. Try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your digital memory card, here are some for your options.

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

1. Do NOT click "yes" to format the drive in case that the formatting process makes things worse.
2. Do NOT attempt to write anything new on this drive in case of any data loss.
3. Download an unformatted drive data recovery freeware to your computer and try to retrieve all your wanted pictures back before the formatting process:

4. Save and back up all your restored data on a different hard drive in case of data recovery failure.
5. After the data recovery process, simply format this drive to see whether it can work functionally as before.
In the future, you should learn a lesson to be more careful about your data and always back it up well.
