The 2 vents on the drivers side have warm air blowing out. ... But a system that is 1/2 pound low will cause the passenger side vents to blow cool or cold air, and the drivers side to be less cool or even warm on this car. There is simply not enough freon capacity in the system to cool the air to the drivers side. https://www.justautorepair.com/buick/century/cool-passenger-warm-driver
Energy Saver Mode most likely shutdown the compressor and Fan Only will be running to recirculate Ambient air into the room.
Make sure there is no Port or Vent that is open on your unit and would let hot air from outside be mixed in with the ambient air especially if it is hot outside.
Also refer to the troubleshooting section of your owner's manual.
did the check or change the expension valve, and also check the dryer and may be it need oil in the compressor when it has load it may run hot, another thing to check make sure the car cooling fans work properly
It sounds like your AC unit could be overheating or even damaged.
AC units have a sensor that will turn them off automatically to prevent damage from overheating. If there is an insufficient amount of air flow, the unit will heat up, and then eventually turn off.
When the car is moving, more air is forced over the unit, likely keeping it cool enough to run, however, when the car come to a stop, it loses that air flow, and quickly heats up. Thus, the AC would work while the vehicle is in motion, and overheat and stop when the car is stopped and idling.
However, the AC unit could be completely blown. The cold air while moving could be just a case of air being forced into the car. Think of a house fan, the fast the wind blows on you, the cooler it gets.... Thus, it could be an illusion that the AC is working when car is in motion, when it really isn't.
I have a 98 ext. cab with AC, it was a low charge on mine. An O-ring was leaking. good luck, the O-ring set is cheap. I think it was autozone that carried them.
