Hello,Normally every body gets this almost right by cutting the power but there is a trick to this it can be done in 2 different ways depending on the unit
First unplug the unit and wait 15 -30 seconds then plug it back in and wait for 15 to 30 seconds then unplug it again and repeat this step 1 more time then upon the final plug in wait for 5 min and then unlock as you normally would.
now on the newer units the trick is to let it stand unplugged for 1 hour to allow the internal reset device to reset the appliance then plug it back in and then wait 5 min and you should hear it automatically unlock the appliance or you cn simply unlock it as you normally would
BUT REMEMBER DO NOT TOUCH IT FOR THE 5 MINUTES AFTER THE PLUG IN STAGE OR YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN OK

Thanks

How does the self-clean feature work on a Frigidaire CFEF366EMB model?

Hi Beverly,

I understand that you are looking to run your self-clean feature on your Frigidaire range, model# CFEF366EMB.

-To start this you will remove all racks and make sure that any excessive spillovers are cleaned up as best as you can.
-Next you will press the "Clean" button, and the display will show "---".
-Press the up or down arrows to select the length of time you want the oven to clean. Usually 2 or 3 hours.
-The door will automatically lock once your time has been chosen and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the door while the light is flashing. (it takes about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock).
-"Cln" will appear in the display during the self-clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will continue to glow until the self-cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven has cooled.

When the self-clean cycle has completed:
-The time of day or "END" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow.
-Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened.
-If "END" is in the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press the "CLEAR/OFF" button and the time of day will appear on the display.
-When the oven is cool, wipe away any residue or powdered ash with a damp cloth or paper towel.

-Best Regards-

I was using the Self Clean on the oven after a couple of hours I got an error message E1 and F5 - and the oven door is locked. I have no idea what that means or how to get the door open again. I tried...

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
Ok before i get into the error codes just a few words here about the self cleaning feature
This the feature that is the most harsh on these ovens due to the extremly high temperatures that is produced then this can and will cause serious problems if not done correctly
I know that people like this feature but i highly suggest that if you are going to use it please try to get the oven as clean as possiable before using this feature this helps the cleaning cycle tremendously ok?
Now for the error code
the e1 error dode is due to the door being locked so to repair this you need to unplug the oven and leave it sit for at least 1 hour this allows for the internal reset feature to reset the oven controle
after the hour is over plug it back in and in 1 to 5 min you may hear a audiable beep or click if so simply press the cancel button and attempt to open the door if so great you should be ok
Now for the bad one
The F5 code is due to the oven control sensing the extreem heat during self cleaning
and sensing that the controls are not controlling the temperature during cleaning which is a bad thing this can and will cause the control board to fail and once again due to the excessive heat
So hopefully once the oven has been unplugged for the hour and reset you should be allright but if not than you do have a bigger problem meaning that your controle board is shot ok?
Please keep me posted on how this is going so i can send you more information on this
Best regards Mike

We used the self cleaning option and now we cannot get the oven door open. The lever is stuck in lock mode. Can you give suggestion?

Hello,

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com

The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock.

IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature)

My frigidaire gas range has a F90 on it when I tried the self cleaning oven feature

F90 Maximum oven door unlock time exceeded.
F91 Maximum oven door unlock attempts exceeded.
F92 Maximum oven door open time exceeded.
F93 Maximum oven door lock time exceeded.
F94 Maximum oven door lock attempts exceeded.

1. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check the wiring between EOC & Lock Motor Micro Switch.

2. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Replace the Motor Door Latch assembly if necessary.

3. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check for binding of the Latch Cam, Lock Motor Rod & Lock Motor Cam.

4. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check to see if Lock Motor Coil is open. If open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

5. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Lock Motor continuously runs - if Micro Switch is open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

6. (F92, 93 & 94) Check oven door Light Switch - if open, replace Switch.

7. If all situations above do not solve problem, replace EOC.

F90 is a door lock code, Try this...
unplug the range.
wait 1 minute.
turn the range back on,
then while holding in on the oven door.
start another self clean.
wait 2 minutes.
then cancel the self clean.

do not release the door until the door lock light goes out.

How to use self cleaning oven

  • When using the self-cleaning feature on your oven, the temperature within the oven rises to an extremely high temperature, usually around1000 degrees. The oven will remain at this temperature for a set periodof time, often from 1 to 3 hours.

  • Self-cleaning ovens differ from traditional ovens in that they require a timer to control the amount oftime that the self-cleaning feature operates. They also require extrathermostatic controls to control the extremely high temperatures.

  • While the mechanisms inside aself-cleaning oven are quite complex, the concept behind aself-cleaning oven is fairly straight forward. The extremely hightemperatures incinerate dirt and debris from your oven, thus cleaningit for future use.

  • Safety is very important when using yourself-cleaning feature. You must ensure that the oven door is completelyclosed while the self-cleaning cycle is running. 1000 degreetemperatures are obviously extremely dangerous. Self-cleaning ovenswill come equipped with a secure oven door latch for this reason.

  • The crucial door locking system isinitially engaged to signal that you are ready to use the self-cleaningfeature. When the oven reaches a certain temperature, the door locksystem will ensure that the oven door cannot be opened until the cycleis complete and the temperature has returned to a manageable level. The result is a clean oven without the use of harsh oven cleaners orabrasives.
REMEMBER YOU ARE WORKING WITH 220 VOLTS - USE EXTREME CAUTION!!!
