Unlock

First you have to call you provoder for an unlock code. Then:

1 - Switch ON your Sony Ericsson W880i without any SIM Card,
2 - Press the left arrow key/button once,
3 - Press the button * twice,
4 - Press the left arrow key/button once,
5 - The message "Personalize with MNC2" will appear, (or you will have displayed an unlock menu, select the lock you want to unlock)
6 - Enter the Unlock Code.

If your Sony Ericsson W880i does not have a left arrow button/key(e.g. Sony Ericsson W950i) and on a few phones(not all) that have a "JOGDIAL" you must press the "down arrow" key/button instead of the "left arrow" key/button for step 2 & 4. We mean by "Down Arrow" to direct the Jogdial down! In the Sony Ericsson W950i and some other models, the down arrow button/key would be located on the side of the phone.

Keys on left side of keybord do not work

if you have a laptop with special keys left of the keyboard, you may need to install drivers and or software for them, look for them at the makers website the the brand and model of the laptop or keyboard.

if its a special keyboard look for its drivers and software at its makers website.

also if after all that the problem is still not solved make sure hid input service is enabled.
info on the service:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/hid_input_service.htm

how to turn it on or check its status

press the windows key and R key at the same time or windows key first and then r.

in run menu write in services.msc
presss ok or enter

in services look for HID input service or similiar make sure its started, right click on it and select properties make sure its set on automatic start up and start the service if its stopped with the start button. Apply, close ok. should work.
