Hi,

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Loud screeching sound tv

You are doing a process of elimination without knowing the source of the problem. There are two problems here, one is the Audio and second the Video controller. All devices rely on the Power source and Control Center. By the time you keep doing a replacement, you could have had a new TV. Unless you are a technician, Don't waste you time and money.

40 inch polaroid lcd tv

This is a common problem with Polaroid sets. I would check the power supply/inverter board for any capacitors with bulging tops. The typical ones that cause this problem are 10uf 450V caps.

Polaroid 40 in lcd tv flickering when warmed up

If the set has several thousands of hours, the CCFL tubes are about due for replacement.

Before you commit to that expense though, check the condition of the capacitors on the inverter board(s). If they are showing any signs of stress failure, replace them and try that for awhile. If they begin to fail within a year again, the tubes should be replaced with capacitors. You want to use high Ripple Current types, not general purpose types.

I have a 40" polaroid

This is actually a bit of a tough one to answer. It really depends on just what the cause is of the flickering is. The flickering could be anything from just a poor signal or cable or connector to a board issue inside. I also don;t know what level of repairs you are comfortable doing etc.

Your real problem here is if it is inside the tv you probably have to send it off to a repair shop. Polaroid has had so many problems with these that they no longer support them. I have heard there was talk of a class action suit but couldn't provide any details on that as I just have no idea if it is true or not.

If you contact Polaroid you can see if they can provide you with contact information of a repair shop. Just go to http://store.polaroid.com/world_wide_contacts and click on support and then find your local contact numbers. Then they should be able to point you towards someone more local to you. You should be able to talk to them and they can talk to you and narrow down what the problem might be.

A word of caution here is to get a repair estimate first. This could be a minor thing or major but you can easily spend more money fixing this than you will just buying a new tv. Expensive repair parts, labour and shipping are all things to consider.

TV won't turn on

I have fixed many polaroids, the problems is most of the parts are contained in one self contained control box. it sounds like your power board is not funtioning. contact polaroid and let them know about your problem and see if you can get a new control panel. the contol panel only has one connection and 3 screws to replace. hope this helps.

Loud popping noise

The 23" CRT set may have a high voltage breakdown in the flyback transformer or focus divider. Take the back off and operate the set in a dark room. Look for anything that has a blue glow around it or sparks flying when the pop occurs. I won't guarantee this will find your problem, but it is definitive if you see these!

I once had a set with these symptoms. I stopped the blue glow and arcing by covering the focus divider with epoxy. It worked for a couple of months before the divider literally broke apart.
