here is what one man did to fix this problem which I think will fix yours

I'm trying to find out if the battery could possibly be the cause. The
reason being is that after shutting off and turning on the phone
several times with no success in getting a signal I put my wifes
battery into my phone and it suddenly had signal and no occurrence of
my problem. Thinking the battery may be the issue I then let the
battery run down to the point that the phone shut off (I do this
somewhat frequently) and put it on the charger and did not turn it on
until the charge was complete. At this point the problem was not
occurring until my battery was down to one bar. Then the problem
started occurring again. I then shut off the phone and put it on the
charger for awhile. I turned the phone on and sure enough I had signal.

Here is what the company recommends doing if there is no signal

    Manual Network Search
    Your Motorola handset should
automatically pick up a signal when
you reach your destination. If there
is no signal present and you are on
the correct band, please try the
    following:

    • Press and scroll to Network
    Selection and press
    • Select Available Networks
    • The screen will now say Scanning.
    • Highlight the appropriate network

when the network list is displayed
and press . Please register onto
    this network by pressing .
If using your own SIM card please
    contact your Service Provider to
determine whether or not service is
provided for the country (ies) in
    which you are traveling. Please
    ensure that you activate
    international roaming on your SIM
    before traveling.

Sim card problem

What's the problem with your sim card..As far as I know there are two possibilities to get this kind of error message. One is poor signal of that respective network for which you just need to switch OFF and ON your mobile and the mobile will be able to receive the signal from near by tower. You may also get this error message when you are trying to insert a sim other than which the mobile is locked to.To solve this problem you need to unlock the phone from that particular network or use the same sim to which the mobile is locked to.To unlock your Motorola phone purchase unlock code from any vendors online like

Downloading picture text and connecting to internet

I have an auction on eBay right now that describes in detail how to set up your data network settings, if you are interested. It took me hours to figure this out myself, so I hate to just give this info away, but it is cheap.

Here's the link --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110256309733&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=001

Thank you & good luck with your Ming,
