here is what one man did to fix this problem which I think will fix yours
I'm trying to find out if the battery could possibly be the cause. The
reason being is that after shutting off and turning on the phone
several times with no success in getting a signal I put my wifes
battery into my phone and it suddenly had signal and no occurrence of
my problem. Thinking the battery may be the issue I then let the
battery run down to the point that the phone shut off (I do this
somewhat frequently) and put it on the charger and did not turn it on
until the charge was complete. At this point the problem was not
occurring until my battery was down to one bar. Then the problem
started occurring again. I then shut off the phone and put it on the
charger for awhile. I turned the phone on and sure enough I had signal.
Here is what the company recommends doing if there is no signal
Manual Network Search

If using your own SIM card please
contact your Service Provider to
determine whether or not service is
provided for the country (ies) in
which you are traveling. Please
ensure that you activate
international roaming on your SIM
