You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

My Amana NAV2330AWW (S/N12279742EP) has been in service for six years. It has begun making a loud squealing, friction-like noise at the spin cycle. I removed the agitator assembly after being told it...

Hello,

Firstly i want to apoligize for the quesionable advice, some on here or elsewhere on the net fixed their washer and suddenly their are experts!!
Now Then as you know your washer is made by Amana/Speed Queen and has no agitator dogs(a quick search of parts breakdown will show anybody that) it also has no spin tube (aka basket drive),the brake pads which it does have would squeal only when washer stops spinning if they were bad just like squalling brakes on or vehicle the are quite till applied if bad,what the most likely cause of the noise is going to be the tub bearing,it is on the bottom of the outer tub. The inner and outer tub must be removed,it is advisable if replacing the tub bearing that you also replace the tub seal since it may not seal correctly once taken apart and leak badly.The hub taht connect inner tub to transmission must be removed so ya can remove the outer tub it requires a special wrench which is not to expensive but nothing else will work. IF ya want to go ahead and repair this the part numbers are;
TUB BEARING 40004201P
TUB SEAL 35-5655-1
SPANNER WRENCH 306P4

PROCESS TO REPLACE BEARING;
unplug power
remove front panels
remove screws holding top to cabinet
remove plastic tub cover by down slightly and lift tabs
remove agitator
remove bolts from hub under agitator and remove inner tub
use that spanner wrench and a hammer on nut on hub and remove nut in counterclockwise direction by hitting wrench w/hammer
lift off hub
remove rubber tub seal
remove all springs from outer tub by locking on vise grips and pull springs off
remove bolts holding outer tub to the to tub support
pull off outer tub and set down so bottom is facing up
remove old bearing and install new old
reassamble in reverse order

Kenmore 90 series washer. As the tub tries to

Hi,
It sounds like you have a bad timer. If you change the position of the timer and it does not change what is going on the the timer has to be bad. However I am not certain what you mean by the agitator turns all the time. Is it agitating while spinning and draining?

I have a Kenmore 20722990 washer. There's a smell

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.20722990

Thoughts are:

1. Fabric Softener dispenser. I'd remove it, run a couple of loads with just soap and see if the smell disappears.

2. These models use whats called a Motor Coupler between the motor and transmission. The center part of the coupler is a rubber device that could be worn and you smell the rubber "burning"

A way to check it is to remove the cabinet, pump and motor and see if the coupler is wearing.

Following is a description of how to access the coupler.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=135&osCsid=4f378f93259c747a96114e0e5fb5b352

3. Depending on the age of the washer, over time "gunk" can build up around the agitator shaft and in the tub. That could be causing the smell.

In order to clean it, you'll have to remove the agitator(s) and the basket. It's not a really difficult job.

See the following for how to pull the agitators, spanner nut, drive block and basket. You don't need a special spanner wrench. I've used a short 10" pipe wrench hooked around one of the tabs on the spanner nut and tapped the handle with a hammer to loosen it. Also, don't directly hit the drive block with a hammer (it's soft metal). Put a short piece of wood under the drive block and tap it up with a hammer.

With the agitators, and basket removed, I'd thoroughly clean the tub and any other gunk that you see.

Maytag top load clothes washer tub spins hard

Hi, You can unsnap the plastic splash ring and see if something is between the tubs. The inner tub turns rather hard anyways. The agitator might have a 1/4" screws in the side of it to hold it onto the shaft of the transmission. If not, just pull the agitator up real hard.
Under the agitator is a spanner nut that holds the inner tub in place. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Trying to remove inner tub of a Kenmore 60 series washer.

my friend had same problem with his machine. instead he filled it with boiling water and dumped a bottle of no name brand liquid plumber in and let it run through. the smell was fierce but it cleaned it out. this is probably not the smartest or safest way but it is easy. oh one more word VENTILATION!

Clothes smell on some cycles

You need to clean the tubs.

Unplug the machine.

Remove the agitator top. Remove the screw or plastic sleeve that holds the agitator down. A 1/2 inch socket extension will fit in the plastic sleeve. Pull the agitator out.

Now you will need to remove the nut that holds the inner tub. A spanner wrench is the best way, but you can use a large screwdriver to lossen the nut. Pull the inner tub. If it doesn't release take a hammer and a driving tool aka anything that will reach and not destroy the crown and tap all the way around the crown. If that doesn't release it, get someone to tap while you pull the tub. Be careful not to break the fill tube. I have broken quite a few being in a hurry. Haste makes waste.

Now with the tub pulled, clean the inside of the outer tub and the outside of the inner tub. Reassemble the machine.

FYI, liquid fabric softener and/or using too much detergent will cause the sewage smell. Liquid fabric softener is terrible for your machine. Use dryer sheets if you can adapt to them.

Loud noise while agitating in wash cycle

If you begin dissassembly from the tub down, you wil come to the transmission with the spindle sticking out of it. If you undo the bendable tabs all around the transmission it comes apart in two halves. Careful, its full of oil. The spindle has a plastic gear bolted to the bottom of it. It meshes with other gears in the tranny. It has sheered teath and is making the noise.
