Toshiba Satellite A135-S2376, black screen problem

I was running my Toshiba Satellite A135-S2376 when the screen completely froze. The cursor wouldn't move, and I could not restart the computer with control-alt-delete. I held the power button until it turned off, but when I tried to turn it back on, the green power light would come on, as would the orange light in the CD/DVD drive, but the screen was entirely black, as if the computer weren't active. I tried running the battery out and recharging it, but the same problem continues. I didn't detect any unusual heat or smell before the screen froze. I'm still under warranty if all else fails, but I'd like to resolve this on my own.

Acer Aspire 5100,Green power light on, boots up, but screen remains black.

Just bought Satellite C875D-S7101 ad cursor frozen upon log-in. This is happening after second day of usage. There are no unresponsive programs listed under Task Manager either. Should I also try removing battery for 3 days? It sounds llike Laptop is defective. Or should I return and get an i3 instead. Does that have anything to do with it?e

I've heard a lot about freezing problems on toshiba as well as others like this. Most common issues are one of two things. One is a damaged RAM module. The second is one of the video card chip sets have fried or are slightly overheating causing the laptop to shut down. Most common with Nvidea and ATI Radeon series graphics cards.

It sounds like they had something with that last entry; if you've used it a while it's common for the wires connecting the screen to the machine to fail, resulting in about what you described. Of course you've tried the monitor hotkey (for switching simultaneous/separate display with connected monitors) already as well as closing/opening the thing to see if the display reconnects for the moment....

Otherwise it's pretty vague what might be wrong; it could be a PC CARD cellular interface came out a bit or caught EMI, knocking out the system board (permanently or not) or any number of screen (and connection) related issues. Try running with an external monitor, looking for junk in your laptop's ports, and certainly swapping out your hard drive with one you don't mind sending for warranty service (or at least completing some sort of backup on another machine.)

A135-s2276 wont switch on

Try contacting Toshiba, as it may be some sort of a harware issue with the touch pad or currupted driver, as you said it worked for two years running XP.
Good Luck.

Toshiba A135-S2376 is suddenly asking for password after power on ..... whats the solution

Well good news and bad news.
This is a problem that toshiba has knowledge of.
You cannot do anything to reset the password.
But you can contact toshiba and they will give you an address of a authorized dealer and they should repair it at no cost.
What it is the bios needs to be updated to version 1.40
It fixes that bug.
Happy Holidays

Toshibba laptop a135-s2276 ,my mother bords smd chip does not work so display of screen does not appear

The problem is well known witht this model Toshiba - the problem is the fan stops working and then hence shuts down to prevent overheating - it does not take long once the laptop is hot. Without replacing the fan just reboot the laptop until you hear the fan start again on reboot.

Just bought a Satellite & had same problem. Toshiba Support confirmed the 'Processor Power Management' fix. Within both the Min AND Max Processor State options you should set BOTH the Battery and Power Adapter options to 100%
